The food was fine, when it finally arrived. There were multiple delays and mix-ups with our orders. We waited ages, and had to ask several times, just to get our drinks. On a hot day that really didn't help. The waiting staff seemed distracted, even though it wasn't too busy on a weekday lunchtime, so maybe we caught them on... More

When you throw the instructions out and make a cocktail with excellence in mind. That is the Gino Spritz. The food was great, the cocktails were amazing. Friendly start, relaxing atmosphere, and easy and accessible location. The staff are friendly and helpful. This because a regular evening stop very quickly.

The service was excellent. The food and wine were great. The fried rice ball was to die for. One of the places we remember most from our trip.

Of all the eateries on the strip, we chose this place. Looked inviting, So we went in- sat down promptly- water was served and then...... the wait, waiting, waiting, waiting - maybe that's why they are called waiters/waitress??? Did I mention we waited - menu was thrown on the table- if you ever get served by Ornella - RUN away........ More

I took my partner to Rome for her birthday and we decided to eat here on our first night. We weren't looking for anywhere fancy or expensive, just a decent restaurant with classic Italian dishes on the menu. On paper, and indeed on appearance, Gino 51 fitted the bill. Boy was I wrong! The place was fairly quiet when we... More

Ok, so I know, Trastevera is extremely busy on a weekend especially a Saturday night at 20:00 but I went in because it had the only open bar stool (or table) I had found after making the circuit of places I knew to be good. Shame on me. Unfriendly to a "solo" to start, 10 minutes to catch the server.... More

Good food, large helpings for a reasonable price, and genuine, friendly service. We ate the gnocchi and the pizza and would recommend both.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
