If you are looking for a classic Rome pizzeria, La Montecarlo is one to go to. It is close to Piazza Navona, right in the heart of the Centro Storico. The pizzas were wafer thin and really crispy. Service was brisk and efficient. Perfect for a quick lunch whilst walking around this part of the city.

Thats it. Cheap and amazing pizza as it should be in Rome. Went there in an afternoon, the place was super quiet. Got 2 pizzas, 1 bruschetta and 1 large water for less than 20Eur. In return, got true Italian taste with fine service. Period.

Very simple, local pizzeria that a friend told us about. Dont do there for fancy decor or cool lighting. It's not that kind of place... DO go there for really excellent pizza & pasta!! The thin slightly singed crust was just how we love it...

I was born in Rome and after all of my experiences this is my most absolute favorite pizza and pasta places. I can never decide between pizza or pasta (carbonara & amatricina) so most of the time I just have to order them all!

They have pretty large dishes. The pasta was OK but they bacon in it was mostly fat. The pizza is missing some more cheese and really missing anchovies which were about one per square meter...

Visited this place 3 times while in Rome for a week in November. Remembered it from 5 years ago when our hotel was nearby. This time, it was about 20 min walk away so we returned a few more times. Good food (not the best, and not the most extravagant) but very good overall everyday eating. Good pasta, pizza, beer,... More

Went there with a friend who used to study in Rome 9 years earlier: the place is still here and is definitely a local institution! Here you'll find tourists, students having a joyful moment altogether, locals willing to have a family type of food - all kinds of people interested in simple, warm, unpretentious and tasty cuisine. I ordered a... More

We stopped in here for lunch at the suggestion of our tour guide. We went for pizza, but a lot of people there (mostly locals) had pasta as well as pizza. If you are looking for a beautiful restuarant, this is not the place, but if you want great pizza at a place where the locals go, then this is... More

In a city that hosts thousands of Pizzerias, La Montecarlo is definitely amongst the best. A no-fuss, cash-only restaurant with friendly service, a multi-lingual menu that promises to delight. The pizzas are baked in their wood-fired oven (the use of mobile phones are not allowed in order not to mess with the oven) and ate some of the thinnest and... More
