Homemade dough, fresh ingredients. This is how pizza should taste like. The pizza just melted in our mouth. Highly recommend!

This restaurant is in Monte Verde Nuovo, so you have to make a bit of an effort to get there from Centro. You can take tram 8 from Piazza Venezia to the second to last stop and then walk about 4 minutes. It is an Italian pizza place, not a tourist pizza place. Pizza is what you get there. The... More

I have been to this pizzeria several times, mostly with a friend of mine, a doctor with a mania for fresh ingredients an hygiene: she says that she only has pizza here because it is the safest from this point of view. Apart from this, there is a huge choice of pizzas and quality toppings of all sort, but at... More

Quite far from the city center, but was worth the taxi ride! Made a reservation and the restaurant was full. I think most people were locals. We ate pizza margherita (two different) and tiramisu for dessert. Pizza was amazing!!! Real roman pizzas and no wonder the place is so popular.

Unexpectedly stopped in to this pizza haven for a quick bite while walking around Rome. We had been told about the pizza here, but never could find the time to try the food here. I must say, what a pleasant surprise. The pizza, both roman style(thinner, crispier crust) as compared to it's neapolitan brother, was a delight. My wife had... More

I visited this place after reading a review about how great the pizzas were, I would not rank it as the best pizza but this depends on whether one likes soft base pizzas or not. The service was good, wine pairing was also appropriate but it's difficult to find a table without a reservation.

We came to this place by recommendation of the famed Gambero Rosso gourmet publishing magazine. Apparently, La Gatta Mangiona is one of only 4 pizzerie that reached top honors within the Lazio region. Plus, it is located off the beaten path in Monteverde, a residential neighborhood where parking is not too horrible an experience (unlike most of central Rome). Plus,... More

The pizza here is everything a pizza should be. The service is fast and friendly and the food itself is superb. We actually wound up coming here twice during our stay in Rome and each time were impressed with the quality of the pizzas. I would highly recommend the classic red with buffalo mozzarella, tomato and basil. Making a reservation... More

Staying in Monteverde

Neighbourhood Profile
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighbourhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centrepiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the centre to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
