The location and quaint setting of this little gem will drive a tourist and locals insane. Indoor and outdoor seating. Toilets could be better. Cutlery and crockery too but this is not about show or stars. This is roman tradition with a bit of sexyness...added. It reflects the owner who is a very beautiful italian attractive modern lady. The manager is exquisitly gentle and knowledgable. Fabulous wine list and knowledge. They organise wine pairings and tastings too. Not expensive. This is on the way to become very important in the centro storico of Rome. Good for business lunch, a romantic evening especially outside. A must if you live in Rome or visit.More

After a long day spent walking around Rome, my best friend and I were super hungry, but we didn't want to stop at a very touristic restaurant. That's when, out of nowhere, we just stumbled across Il Bacaro. The beautiful outdoor setting and the menu...first caught my eyes. The list was not too long, usually a synonym for good food, but with enough choice for everyone to find their kink. The prices seemed reasonable, and I could only hear italian speakers around, as no one trying to lure us in like if we were some two-legged wallets. No need for booking told us the waitress, so we went to get a small aperitivo in a lovely bar not too far on plazza copelle, then came back to be seated inside by Veronica. She was a wonder and went above and beyond to make our stay as best as possible, and I have to admit that it was one of my most amazing diner experience ever. She switched to a perfect french when she realised that we were from France, and gave us great wine advices. Then, we ordered an antipasti to share (the calamari, excellent, it was cooked to perfection and served with white bean purée, a gem), two different kind of pastas (my friend asked to have them with a different sauce and the kitchen was totally fine to do it), raviolis with the most tender beef and arrabiata sauce, and truffled carbonara, a delight, and brought us a bottle of olive oil and two small bowls with a little piece of each other's pastas to taste. This was an unexpected surprise, and it was absolutely lovely. Then we ordered the chocolate cake, and they offered us some digestivo (we really love this custom!). Everything was perfect, we had an incredible time, the prices were totally correct regarding the amount and the quality of the food (we were so full after!), the subtle jazz music and candle lights were the nice finishing touch of an incredible evening. We had a great chat with Veronica who gave us some advices on the city, and we promised to come back but didn't get the chance, so sorry! But we'll be back, it's a promise :-) Thanks for everything!More

Fantastic little place tucked away in a little side street off the Piazza Navona. Small intimate restaurant, booking required to ensure you get a table. We went for my wife’s birthday. The service was special with lots of advice on wine and food choices. The...cheese election starter and gnocchi were delicious. The meats were superbly cooked too eg lamb chops. Highly recommended. Price c.50 euros per head for three courses couple of bottle of wine between six.More

Il Bacaro is a great option if you are looking for a change from typical Roman fare, paired with an imaginative (but not overly expensive) wine list. It's also quiet and calm, a break from the hustle and bustle of many places in this area.

We were seated without reservations right at dinner time. Their hand-made ravioli was wonderful! Be sure to save room for their tiramisu- heavenly.

My review is not for the food as I didn’t get to eat here. I booked online as my plane landed in Ciampino at 8.30pm . We arrived at the restaurant at 9.55pm my booking was for 10pm . I was informed they had no...table and no record of my booking even though I recieved a confirmation email. Staff very unhelpful. Will never attempt to book again or recommendMore

First the good things - it is centrally locates and a very beautiful setting. Tucked away just around the bend from the Pantheon. Now the bad news- yikes. We should’ve listened to the other reviews. Very salty food. And yes they offer the cheap wi...e and then say they ha e run out. But that alone would not merit a rare two star from me. It is that this was my third time to Rome and perhaps seventh time to Italy. And rarely is the food this bad. I mean I have eaten at osterias, trattorias, restaurant, you name it. But this food was either very salty or extremely bland.More

Experience an authentic Italian meal FREE of charge. Why ; because they are air heads and forget all kinds of things like your cutlery and your order. Complain and your meal is almost free.

Went to this restaurant and ordered a rather cheap wine two times. Both times, we were surprisingly told that they only had more expensive wine. Our table neighbours had the same issues, they were tourists as well. When the carbonara dish arrived, we had to...send it back as it was way too oversalted (and my boyfriend really loves salt...). Nice location but nothing else, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone- especially not if you are a tourist.More
