It is not difficult to find good Gelato in Italy but after several trips and numerous cities I have to say that Hedera is my favorite. Outstanding flavors and a consistency that is a bit creamier make this a standout.

When you are going to the Vatican city don't forget to pay a visit to this place. Some careful selected ice cream tastes with topnotch quality. Surely the best ice cream in Rome!!

Great gelato! Small gelato place that serves other desserts as well. There is a small seating area outside on a quiet street so you can sit and enjoy the sights.

Very charming palce with delicious ice cream and very friendly service. She even offered us to first taste 2 flavours to help us choose. Both flavors I ordered were delicious and quite destinctive which I appreciate a lot. In many places all ice cream flavours at the end taste the same, like the ice cream base, but it was not... Nice little place near the Vatican - great ice cream and coffee stop. Very good gluten free choices too. Would go back for sure. Nice staff. It's more of a takeaway place than a cafe but they do have a couple of tables.

We liked the gelato here so much we came twice. Both times our children got the same thing - our daughter loved the Nocciola (she had that flavor every place she went, and thought that Hedera's was the best, hands-down) and our son had the lemon. This is an all-natural, homemade gelateria and the flavors were all fantastic. The prices... More

I tried the gelato at Hedera while in Rome last month and fell in love with it. So much so that I visited it every day that I was in Rome! I’ve never tasted gelato that is so creamy and flavoursome. My particular favourites were the hazelnut and the melon. The selection of flavours vary with the seasons- only seasonal... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
