Even it is march, weather kept us hot all day - what could be the best way to finish our 1st day? Of course, the gellato - the italians are famous because of it. And it was goooooddd: dark chocolate, pistachio, lemon and thyme, coffee...ooo...what a joy! Even it was a bit expensive for an icecream. We recommend this place... More

Don't bother with other gelato in Rome. This is the best! Worth the walk from Trastevere to Monte Verde Vecchio.

The gelateria is a hidden tiny gem in an quiet and residential neighborhood. The flavours are interesting and the taste is even better, I had vanilla and apricot and would recommend both of them. Worth a visit if you are in the area!

When I told my Roman friend that we were planning to eat gelato at different gelateria for all 21 days we were in Rome, she said we had to try La Gourmandise. My children and I had a bit of an adventure trying to find the place, but it was absolutely worth it. All the gelato here is made in... More

This place isn't exactly in a spot you'd normally walk past but I highly suggested making the trek there for their gelato. It is to-die-for! Lots of creative, seasonal flavors, lots of vegan options too. The flavors change according to season so there's always something new and interesting to try!

La Gourmandise is on a quaint side street in one of Rome's most historic and tranquil neighborhoods. The gelato experts concoct their secret recipes and can be seen working their magic behind the small glass window. In the front, the service is friendly and has a hometown feeling. The gelato is divine and comes in an array of traditional and... More

I tried a different flavour every day, I can't decide which I love the most but the vanilla with ginger is way up there as being close to pure bliss.

I was really surprised (pleasantly) by this tiny place in Monteverde which isn't on Parla's list -- or anyone's! I've never heard of it. It was divine. Whipped cream is kept in a metal bowl in the refrigerator. It's fantastic. The flavors are innovative without being over the edge crazy. I really loved the saffron with crispy walnuts. Texture was... Wow! How can you go wrong with this amazing authentic italian ice-cream parlor? Its a must eat and try... no very cheap, but worth it. Dont miss out on the pistaccio and chocolate ice cream. The 'limone' (lemon) is also very delicious! I could eat this ice cream every day in Italy!!

I absolutely LOVE this little place. It's a hidden gem - anyone who loves ice cream should go! There are some delicious flavours for you to try, all handmade with high-quality ingredients. I love all the strange fruits and the interesting combinations. The cream is lush! Not cheap but definitely worth it.

Staying in Monteverde

Neighbourhood Profile
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighbourhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centrepiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the centre to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
