Found this great little cafe in a small piazza near Via Corso. Outdoor seating as well as indoor tables with pizza, pasta and grilled items. We ate outside then had desert inside to ride out a brief rain storm.

This restaurant was a short walk from our hotel. The food was very good and the prices reasonable for the area. No complaints.

I experienced this establishment today. It is a pure and utter scheme! I spent nearly $20 on the equivalent of an ice cream cone! I am still reeling from this store, and the lady at the register even had the nerve to have an attitude when I told her I wanted to use my credit card. As she not so... More

Stopped here for our first coffee of the day, and was directed to tables specifically for drinks only. Damiano the barista made us the best coffee (cappuccino and espresso) we have had in our entire small European sojourn. Everywhere else we've been so far on this trip, the coffee (including the Intercontinental in Prague and the Hotel Imperial in Vienna... More

Whatever you do in the way of gelato, ABSOLUTELY AVOID the Bar Ristorante Gelateria Antica Roma, near the Spanish Steps. They sell lousy gelato (powdered flavors--not the real thing), and they rob you blind (15 EUROS! for a medium cone--about quadruple what it should be). Not to mention that the horrid witch behind the register hates you because you're a... More

I should have known better when the waiter kept insisting it was fresh food, not frozen or microwaved. We were a party of three. One of us ordered a class of Pinot Grigio (€8). It had to be sent back. The replacement was a bit better but the rest of us were glad that we were on water (€4). The... More

I had aperitivo for the happy hour today at the Piazza Capranica restaurant (10 euro all you can eat from 6 to 9 pm) and was very disappointed. Fried food was cold and greasy. Only one beer (draft Peroni) and no wine list. I ordered a bloody mary and it was embarrassingly watered down. The food was abundant but bad... More

I know that bars charge extra if they bring your drinks to the table which is fine. However I did not expect to be charged 9euro for a child's ice cream! When I queried the bill and complained the waiter got angry justifying the bill with the high rent they have to pay in that area.... Clearly they were taking... More

Staying in Colonna

Neighbourhood Profile
Colonna
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very centre of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping centre, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
