What a find this restaurant was!! My partner and I were staying at a hotel just nearby, the Albergo del Senato, just a stone's throw away from the Pantheon. The hotel management recommended we visit Pietro al Pantheon, and were we ever glad we did! The food, service and decor were all excellent! We each had a fabulous dish of... More

The place was a little tricky to find and we managed to get a table after 15 minutes of waiting. The owner was very hospitable and offered us free champagne while we waited. The restaurant is quaint and small so very tight seating. We ended up with a table outside where we could enjoy the atmosphere for our last night... More

We wanted to eat at the restaurant next door but they didn't have outside seating. This spot was a nice surprise. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the salad crisp and fresh, well priced wine - a great recommendation from the owner for a special red. Complimentary limoncello and cookies added up to a great lunch near the Pantheon.

After being in Rome a few days, we stumbled upon this great place just steps away from the Pantheon. While waiting for our table, we were offered a glass of Proseco, a nice treat. We were offered menus and after finding so many wonderful items, we decided on the carcioffi alla Romana, fior de zucca, tripe and malfatti with ricotta... More

Started out great with warm greeting and prosecco while we waited for our table. But then things changed. There were several locals dining and felt we were treated as dumb tourists. It was very busy and the warmth turned into pushiness, and the server ordered our food without showing us a menu or asking for what we wanted (no joke).... More

People are friendly and the pasta was really good. A typical Italian restaurant. Don't ask for the house wine (in my opinion it was not good). They offer a nice wine menu so you can choose one that will be perfect with your meal.

We used to go to the opposite restaurant when visiting Rome. Given this restaurant has a few award stamps, we decided to give it a try. The pasta with black truffle was very good and seafood spaghetti was good as well with fresh clam, mussel and squid. However, the steak was dry and over cooked even though we ordered medium... More

I must confess we were sceptical about this restaurant because it is located at a tourist hot spot. However, we first tried it out last year and returned this year - Pietro is no "tourist trap". They serve really good, authentic Roman food at reasonable prices. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. To be recommended for a nice lunch.

Staying in Colonna

Neighbourhood Profile
Colonna
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very centre of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping centre, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
