My husband and I ate here in June on our honeymoon, and we still talk about it. The decor, menu, and ambiance are all no-frills, but they sure know how to fry up some cod. We loved the cod, of course, cheap table wine flowing from taps, the buzzy atmosphere, and even the tight tables. We thought it all added... More

This is an incredible place. It is no frills and fantastic. The primary (only) entree is the fried cod fillets. They are extraordinary. I highly recommend sampling the anchovies in some way shape or form, either with butter on bread, or as part of one of the salads. I had the insalate gallinella and it was great. The fagioli (beans)... More

Honestly, I don't understand the baccala hype. Glad I tried it for historical and cultural purposes, but threw away most of my meal. Average British fish and chips is much better to me than this highly rated baccala establishment. Most disappointing meal of our stay in Rome.

Delicious and perfectly fried salt cod is the mainstay of this institution. For appetizer, get more fried food (zucchini or anchovies) or go healthy (beans). Add a choice of typical Roman salads as a light side dish. Desserts are great! Service is fast. Arrive early to avoid lines. Or just order fish to go and walk and eat!

Excellent deep fried cod and puntarelle. Also the desserts are quite good. We particularly enjoyed the Malvasia with biscuits and cake. The waiter was very nice and entertaining. The atmosphere is reminiscent of old-town hosterias for locals, even if you are just behind Campo de Fiori. Slightly tight for parties of more than four.

My wife and I saw this place on a TV show and it looked incredible so we put it on our "must go" list for our trip to Italy. This is a tiny place and is tucked into an odd triangular alley that dead-ends. Walk up to the front and you can tell the locals are going to outnumber you... More

Went early (8pm) and got a table right away at the front, though I think we would have waited if we came any later. Pickled veggies were tasty with nice bread, the Roman Puntarelle salad with anchovies, which was very fresh and nice. House white wine was good. bread was good. Baccala was nicely breaded though a bit doughy, not... More

Amazingly fresh, crispy, delicious and cheap. It's 5 euros for a fried fillet. You can also get them to go if you walk all the way into the back. A nice quick snack or a small appetizer before dinner. Don't miss out! The pieces are very big!

Was recommended this place by someone who had "found" it, was quite difficult to find as it is just a small front But the fish that was put in front of me was amazing, next time I'm in Rome I'll be visiting here again and this time I'll be feasting on more fish than would be medically advisable !

If you want to eat like a local but are a bit fed up of pasta and pizza then this place is a must do. It's on a quiet little square not far from Campo dei Fiori, but it is reassuringly jam-packed with locals inside. They specialise in more greasy, unpretentious fare, with fried cod as the main event, which... More
