Cecio was recommended by our hotel staff, and did not disappoint. The food is great, the room is small, and the waiters tall (three big, bearded brothers). It's very busy but still clean and tidy. If you would like to have dinner here, it's wise to make reservations first.

We had a great dinner at Cecio. We got this place recommended by the owner of our guesthouse around the corner. Busy but cosy atmosphere. Very fast and friendly service! Honest kitchen!

Cecio is a family business, run by three very tall black-bearded brothers. The food is generally good and reasonably priced, as is their wine. Don't expect the best meal of your life - it is small simple place - but you can expect reliable and interesting food. Best of all: there is NO PIPED MUSIC! You really need to book... More

Just an average place, the italian saltim bucco was dry and the plates small, bur you felt nice there and it is okay as dinner to fill your tank, but not to have an romantic dinner or celebrate.

I read all the reviews and decided to try it out. Definitely lived up to the expectations. We loved both of our meals and were going to go back for our last lunch in Rome but unfortunately they were closed that day. Best meal in Rome and we had some great ones

Best dining experience we had in Rome. Tony and Emmanuel were so friendly and kind to us! The staff were the best! They suggested a 4 course meal with sea bass fresh from the market, seafood pasta with shrimp, mussels and clam (amazing), king prawns with magnificent white wine to pair for dinner. They taught us a lot along they... More

This wonderful restaurant was only 2 minutes from our hotel (the excellent Ariston!!) and only 4 minutes from the Termini so easy to get to wherever you're staying in Rome :-D Our favourite dishes were the Sea Bass Carpaccio (bargain at 15 Euros), the Mixed Grilled Fish Cecio style which whilst being 45 Euros (it was our 30th Wedding Anniversary!!)... We went here on the recommendation of a nearby hotel where we were staying. The menu, typically, was extensive. The atmosphere was pleasant as was the food as was the service. But nothing was actually special or outstanding. I probably shan't be returning.

Staff are very friendly, prices are relatively low, the range of dishes is very wide and from what I experienced the food is very good. Excellent antipasta della casa although a bit new to me as I had not had the Italian equivalent of Lyonaise potatoes mixed with Parma Ham before, alongside Salami, roasted peppers, eggplant, courgettes, carrots and a... Lovely little family run restaurant very close to our hotel and reasonably priced. The waiter was kind enough to suggest a few dishes and wine for us but wasn't offended if we wanted something else. Brilliant service and frequented by the local people which is a good sign

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
