Visited as near our hotel, nice restaurant which seems family run. Food was good however our vegetables were ordered and written down but forgotten, we were offered them when plates were cleared but as we were finished we did not want them. House Wine was good and we did get offered limoncello at the end of the meal. We skipped... More

Visited based on our hotel's recommendation. Authentic and simple feel to the place. Friendly and attentive service. Very reasonably priced considering the portion sizes! I had to take half of my pizza home in a box as it was simply too large to eat in one sitting! Both courses ordered were delicious. The offering of limoncello at the end of... More

This fabulous little gem was just around the corner from our hotel, so we had our final evening meal here. So glad we did, excellent service, warm and friendly and excellent quality of food for very reasonable City centre prices. Highly recommend

We had stopped a local guy to ask for directions. He pointed us to our hotel and also recommended a pizzeria that was nearby for dinner. Since a local recommended it, we definitely had to try it. We are SO happy we did. It's a cute little shop where I believe the owners also help serve. We are there our... More

We had been recommended this place by the concierge at our hotel. What a great suggestion! Just off the beaten path. The house wine was amazing. Food was good and the staff was attentive. Every time we come back to Rome, we will be eating here!

Restaurant recommended by the hotel and had already looked it up here on TripAdvisor. Simple plain decor, checkered read and white table cloths and a real homely feel to the place. We had a really nice meal with starter, mains, dessert and coffee which came in at 47euro for the 2 of us. Service good, both tourists and locals eating... More

Visited this restaurant on a Sunday evening with the girlfriend, Rome is quiet on a Sunday in most restaurants I found this via google maps and read reviews which were all 5 stars. The restaurant must be a local and it wasn't full of tourists, the food was excellent the staff were very very friendly and helpful, gave great recommendations... More

We visited Ristorante Pizzeria Andrea with the aim of having a great dinner, of local cuisine, which was not a pizza or a pasta based. This restaurant met our expectations. Service - 4 - Prompt and friendly service and served bread while waiting. The menu was huge with a lot of local cuisine options. Food - 4 - We ordered... More

Our first evening in Rome we were starving after a long day of travelling and picked here as it was close by to our hotel. We sat down outside and had to wait ages to be served. When we eventually ordered it seemed to take even longer for the food to arrive. You can imagine two starving tourists getting quite... More

A traditional menu with a few modern twists, friendly staff and a warm atmosphere make for a pleasant evening at a reasonable cost.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
