Classic neighborhood restaurant serving classic Roman dishes. Parmigiana (not on the menu, just ask for it) good, but very heavy. Cacio Pepe exceptionally good, the best we had in Rome. Pasta Felice (tomato sauce with herbs and ricotta) good, but a little oily. Overall very good food, but with limited time in Rome it may not be worht the special... More

Inst'easy to find a free table, but in this restaurant you can eat the best typical Roman food. Pasta cacio e pepe, polpetta di bollito (meat balls),and abbacchio arrosto (lamb) are at the top. Very good list of wines. Prices reasonable. Dont'miss it.

The restaurant is one of the last placesat least in Testaccio, where to eat the traditional roman food, cooked as the tradition wants. I will recommend "trippa" on Saturday. Each day of the week the menu reservers special dishes cooked just that day, as you can see on the website. Pasta cacio e pepe is a must. Large selection of... More

An authentic Italian restaurant. Our Italian friends took us there to dinner. They insisted that we booked well in advance (2 months before our visit) and they were right. This place is packed and there is a reason for it. Variety of different tastes, amazing hand made pasta (try the cacio e pepe), meat, salads and selected antipasti. Last but... More

Great food and mozzarella to die for. We also enjoyed the artichoke and seared fish. We found the seafood pasta a bit salty but the rest of the food including the dessert was excellent. They also had a great selection of wines.

One needs to book well in advance, the tables are full months in advance. Excellent Roman food - pasta, swordfish, artichokes - the whole lot was well cooked, well presented and tasty. The meatballs were a bit heavy and the sauces filling so one is in danger of ordering way too much. A great meal, but expensive at 175 Euros... More

This is a really really good restaurant with typical and delicious Italian food - in particular Roman style. The atmosphere was awesome and the surroundings were fantastic. I can truly recommend this place - also because this restaurant is very popular with the locals which usually is a good indicator of quality and fair pricing. We were there on a... More

This highly-rated restaurant was slick and seemed welcoming. I booked in person and was given the impression that it would be hard to find a table. After some deliberation we were given a time and felt grateful. Surprisingly the restaurant wasn't full and walk-ins were being accepted. It could be that they hadn't sufficient staff on a Sun eve? The... More

No antipasto was offered. Most of the pasta dishes were very good (particularly the Ravioli alla Felice, the Carbonara, and the daily special, a pasta Carciofi). The Gnocchi, less thrilling (in fact, so far after a week, not much luck finding very good Gnocchi in Rome). We shared the Secondi (a good idea): The Abacchio al Forno was succulent, served... More

Staying in Testaccio

Neighbourhood Profile
Testaccio
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighbourhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
