Really really great pasta and not too expensive. I recommend the gricia (or something) super tasty. It's a bit of a trek from the centre but if your youngish and looking for a night out after dinner it's right in San Lorenzo, which has loads of great bars. The wine and service were great too! Our waiter was really patient... More

This is a small restaurant in a non tourist part of Rome that is easily reached by tram and bus. Focusing on locals it provides excellent tradional dishes. Would recommend the carbonara which freshly prepared and no cream in sight! The area of San Lorenzo has lots of stuðent friendly coffee shops and places to eat but this is worth... More

This is my favorite traditional restaurant in San Lorenzo. Since it was mushroom season, I had a large piece of grilled porcini. AMAZING. Wine selection was good not great but overall very agreeable experience.

A really nice traditional restaurant in Rome. It's well off the beaten track and had lots of locals there when we we went. The service was great and the food excellent. It is a family run place and it was nice to eat somewhere not full of other tourists. Really recommend going there for a taste of family cooking in... More

If you are looking for affordable local cuisine, this might be the place you're looking for! It's not a touristic place, so you will dine among the Romans. The food is great!

Pommidoro is a typical roman restaurant, with not too many tourists. It was nice to see people from the neighbour at the table. Pasta was really good, one of the best carbonara I had in Rome, I really enjoyed also fish and mussels. I would definitely come back there!

Was recommended by our hosts for dinner. Easy to find place located near a junction. Decor was very classic roman and so were the dishes. We had the pasta and mussels. Mussels was excellent and pasta slightly above average. The dessert (tiramisu and cake) however fell below our expectations. One big plus point was the service. Our waitress was very... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo may look all street with its pulse in urban art and street food, but don’t be fooled. This gritty student neighbourhood immediately east of Termini train station is on the avant-garde rise. Art galleries, curated mural projects by artists like Rome’s favorite Alice, charming cafes, and boutique restaurants are slowly infiltrating the streets of San Lorenzo with counter-culture chic. Don’t worry, San Lorenzo still retains its local vibe with weekend festivals and demonstrations, and is always a hub for Rome’s university student scene.
