Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We went to lunch because we are advised by a Guide here.
Homemade food delicious and very flavorful.
We order a vegetarian lasagne that by God!! A few steak cannelloni with the finger-sucking tomato, a pizza of prosciutto fine dough and a couple of potato croquettes that were just gone.
Join us with a red lambrusco served very cold and we finished with a pistachio tartufo and a tiramisu with a creamy texture that took away the meaning and a soft touch.
We loved it, we ate great near the coliseum and nothing expensive.
58 eur has been the bill.
Care has been good and fast
A corner that we would not have found alone since in itself, does not attract attention because it is located in a hidden alley.

Tucked away in the centre of Rome, this pizzeria offers a great experience of typical Roman pizza. Great pizza, really tasty.
Fair value for money, considering a very affordable price, and very rustic / simple service and location.
Recommended for families and friends, less for gallant or formal meetings

Great wood fired pizza at a very reasonable price. We also ordered the fried mozzarella balls as an appetizer - they were tasteless. I would recommend sticking to the pizza! Service was mediocre, we sat there for quite awhile before a waiter approached us for our order. Once he took our order, the food came quickly. We had to ask for a second round of drinks and for our bill, he seemed very busy with other tables.

We sat at a table and ordered our first drink, as we usually do in our country. Suddenly, the waiter/owner interrupted us in a rude tone, asking if we were going to eat as well because they don’t serve only drinks. I was shocked by his attitude, but I replied that we were planning to eat. I then ordered two plates of bruschetta from the menu, and the owner arrogantly told us: 'You have to leave, this is not a bar, go away.'
I’m giving one star, not because we couldn’t be served, but because of his arrogance and clear disdain for tourists. He could have achieved the same outcome by simply smiling and explaining that they prefer customers who order more to increase revenue. And to think they say Italians are friendly, perhaps they’ve never met this man. People want to feel welcome, and you are not in this place.

Finding a pizzeria in Rome centre where you won't be fleeced for mediocre food, in short, a tourist trap, can be a challenge. But wandering in streets close to the Foro Imperiale we found Pizzeria Alle Carette. This pizzeria turned out to be just the eatery we needed. Outdoor tables, the weather was clement, polite, matter of fact service of the waitress, a delicious pizza from the wood fired oven, draft Beck's beer and a reasonable bill. Verdict: no tourist trap and a well deserved four point rating.

We stumbled across the restaurant, when wanting a lighter dinner. We were led into the outside eating area which was very quaint. Fried artichokes and two pizza bwana (who knew pizza without tomato base was a thing) and the most delicious homemade pannacotta, we left, very happy with the service, the food and the value for money. A little gem in an extremely busy city

Traditional restaurant with amazing food. We had the diavola & buffala pizza and it was delicious! The staff was very polite & attentive at our needs. Also, the food order took only about 10 minutes wich I totally apreciate it since we were very hungry. Best pizza in Rome!

My husband found this listed as having great pizza. We were walking front the colloseum and hungry. Atmosphere inside was Dank and underwhelming and I just had a feeling to turn away. I didn’t. Husband had a pizza which looked like soggy white something and my son and I ordered lasagne which was completely burnt. We decided not to bother eating it and save our calories for some place better. Paid the bill and got out. Such a gross meal. My 20 year old said he gets better frozen lasagna at university for $2 a box. Have no idea who is eating here but it just is horrible.

We stopped off at this restaurant for lunch which was fairly quiet when we arrived, the waiter failed to give us any menus and then didn't return for quite a while. Once ordered the drinks arrived promptly and the food a little while later. We were then ignored for the rest of our visit, the restaurant had filled up and the staff were struggling to cope, other diners were waiting a long time, had their food delivered at different times or had items missing. Paying took forever and in the end we couldn't wait to get out. What was supposed to be a quick bite ended up being a chore which was a shame as the food was actually pretty good.

Researched restaurants near Colosseum as we were due for our tour around 1:30. Found this online and arrived before "opening time" though they were open and we were (barely) the first to arrive. Nice day and we sat in the nice back patio area. A rather large restaurant with quick and attentive service. We only had 1 pizza each which were "personal" size and definitely adequate for one hungry person. Thin not puffy type of crust. Very good. Price right. Location perfect. Could not ask for better. Grazie:)

We would never have come across this little restaurant if it hadn't been recommended by a walking tour guide we had used the night before. Tucked away down a little ginnel, it served perfect pizza washed down with some nice local wine. It is just around the corner from the spectacular Roman Forums and well worth seeking out. Cost less than a third of the high end restaurant that people were gushing about, and the food was much more enjoyable.

The food was really nice! However, the service from the waitress was poor, and kind of rude. One of my friends wanted a glass with ice for his drink and we he asked for the second time after a while, the guy said “I know, I know” bringing a glass WITHOUT THE ICE. Also i requested more cheese for my pasta and he said IT ALREADY HAS… first time that i got that answer in a restaurant…

Although they weren't the best we had in Rome, our pizzas in alle Carrette were pretty good and very reasonably priced. The house wine was OK and again very cheap. The seating area was up a little side street near the Colosseum and there was a lively atmosphere. Our good natured waiter looked as though he was serving the whole of the outside area single-handedly but, nevertheless, did a very good job. Our bill was about half the amount we had been paying in other restaurants. Worth a visit if you fancy a pizza.

We stumbled upon this hidden gem in our first evening in Rome. A stones throw away from the Colosseum, this restaurant had everything, great location, great value for money, great food and great service. Two people, each having 3 courses and a bottle of wine and the bill came to €30! I can’t recommend this place enough.

We visited twice to see if it was as good the second time, it didn’t disappoint!
The suppli (rice balls) is the best we’ve had on our trip by a mile and it was also the cheapest! The pizzas we tried, salmon and francescana, were both delicious. The salmon on cheese bread was also a highlight.
Great beer selection and a nice wine all for a good price and close to the colosseum. Would recommend above everywhere else we tried.
