A lovely little cafe at the top of Castel Sant'Angelo with romantic tables for two or more along the circular castle terrace with a beautiful view of the city. They have a good selection of panini and focaccia sandwiches, simple pizza, and excellent cakes and gateaux. Run by the same family for decades, the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Very exclusive and relaxing. At the top of the Castle! Awesome. Used to be used by the pope and now open to the public. What a fab day out.

...why not stop and give your legs a rest :) Very small but cozy café; you'll find it along the way. Cheesecake was delicious!

I went to the castle for one purpose only, and that was the cafe! Not for the food though, but for the view. The food was ok, I had a mozzarella tomato sandwich and a decaf cappuccino. However the view was magnificent. The castle was actually nice. I enjoyed the entire experience.

We stopped off here for a quick lunch whilst walking up the many steps to the terrace at the top of the castle. There is option to sit inside but as it was good weather It was lovely to sit outside in sunshine with stunning views. Limited menu but the pannini was good for a light lunch. The cold beers... Nice view, good pricing, delicious meals and coffee. You might have to wait for some minutes because it is really crowded but it is definitely worth it!

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
