My friend and I had an extra large portion (€12). No doubt it was value for money (you get 6 scoops), we found it a little too much to be shared between two people. But the flavours were all excellent - pistachio was a standout for me. I tried their pastries too for breakfast. They were very good as well.... More

The gelato at Giolitti is delicious! There is a large range of flavours which should satisfy all. Pay and grab a ticket at the counter at the front before presenting it to the waiters st the gelato booth towards the back. Giolitti is an institution so can be very busy. Stay patient and you'll enjoy a delicious gelato.

We had both cakes and ice cream, it was all very delicious and besides that we really enjoyed just sitting down there with the lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff in this wonderful café at the heart of the Eternal City!

This is a café/ice cream/bakery all in one, but the sections are well distinguished. No matter which one you choose, you have to pay first then show your receipt at the counter. I went for the ice cream in the cone (the other option would be a plastic cup). You are allowed some tasting before you choose your scoops. The... More

We made it to Giolitti three times during our short stay in Rome. All I can tell you is that no matter what kind of scoops I chose I felt real taste of that type , coffee, Vanilla , pomegranate etc. in addition its sweetness is so balanced that you feel and need it entirely but at the same time... Really, the Best Ice Cream. I chose 2 flavors and then I asked the guy behind the counter for a recommendation, he said pistachio, and that was it!!! Always ask for a recommendation. And the ones that I chose were great but pistachio was heavenly!!!

I wouldn't recommend the tiramisu- it's better just to get gelatos (caramel- figue and dark chocolate flavors are delicious!)

If you have not tasted a Giolitti's gelato, you have not experienced the fantastic sensation of discovering the genuine perfect ice cream (and "panna"). I had asked for my favourite flavour: pistachio and it was divine - an unforgettable taste, so genuine and well priced in view of the quality provided! And there are probably some 50 different flavours -... More

Staying in Colonna

Neighbourhood Profile
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very centre of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping centre, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
