I love this restaurant, as my last review indicates--the intimate and ancient decor, the excellent food, and the friendly young wait staff. But a few nights ago, I asked for some olive oil for an appetizer, and the waiter dutifully brought out a very small...dish of it. Although all of the other restaurants in Rome I've dined at would plop down a bottle of extra virgin olive oil, I didn't give it much thought, until I checked the bill and saw that I was charged two euro for it! When I lightheartedly complained to the waiter, he said that it was specially prepared by the chef, although he, too, knew I was right. To the owner: please don't do this--it makes the diners feel they are being ripped off...yes, I will return, but next time just give me a bottle of the stuff!More

Our evening at Apulevivs was a gastronomical experience. From the starter to the desert the food was excellent, very well presented and the professional service was very welcoming. I would highly recomend this restaurant as very good value for money and excellent food.

Thia is a well located restaurant in Aventino. Inside is very fancy, or would say elegant. With only few tables they took half an hour to serve a pasta!! Did not serve the wine or water or bread as the standards restaurants in Italy. Food...was not good .More

Food is creative, delicious, different and beautifully presented. Tucked away on a quiet street on the Aventine, away from the usual tourist hustle and bustle in an upscale neighbourhood. Waiters are professional and knowledgeable. Intimate and elegant ambience. Shared the Stuffed Zucchini Blossoms as a...starter, main courses A La Romana Beef Rolls and Lamb, finishing up with Lavender-Flavoured Creme Caramel, served with a shot of Grand Marnier. We were so delighted to find this restaurant that we went back a second time for our last evening in Rome...and will make a point to return.More

I went twice since the food was so good. We tried a variety of food including fried squash blossoms, zucchini appetizer, lamp chop, grilled octopus and veal brisket. All were great with unique flavors and a twist that kept the dish from the ordinary. I...highly recommend them. Small dining room makes you feel like a valued client.More

Went cos of the great reviews, and we happened to be in the area. Positives: 1. The ambience is very nice. The interior decor is beautiful. 2. Service is friendly. 3. Food was reasonably good. But not as good as prior reviews. Agree with some...of the negative reviews that say the quality has gone down a lot from prior years. The well known TA curse I guess. 4. The wine I ordered was very good. I guess I'll credit this to the restaurant for offering it Negatives: 1. Bread was pretty hard. 2. Quality of mains was average. Not worth a second trip or additional recommendations to friends. Summary: Decent place to go if in the area cos of the ambience and friendly service. Would not make the effort otherwise. Would give it a 3.5 but there is no such option..so I gave a 3 since there are so many exuberant 5 star ratings which I don't think are justified.More

Good food, but seriously slow service, pricey and lacking the 'wow' that would justify the cost. The local unfiltered bio wines are just not worth it - don't fall for the spiel. Needs to do better.

I love Apuleius, located in a quite place, romantic and very close to Colosseo and Forum. Great food and good wine list, with local winery. “Old and Fresh-school” Italian cooking where the classic decor, will take you back to Italy of the ’50s; Reservations still...remain suggested .Medium price, not expensiveMore

I had a wonderful meal on my last night in Rome and would gladly return again and again. Inventive Italian menu with fresh ingredients and amazing flavours. It is off the beaten path for many but well worth finding. It is very close to the...Aventino Hotel S. Anselmo. The starter of Fagottino di Pecorino de Fossa e Peregrine's was a wonderful combination of flavours. The Tagliolini con Tartufo was light and memorable. The suggested Vino Bianco all Mescita wine accompaniment was a perfect pairing. Desert of Frolla con Ricotta was very slow to come, but very fresh. Tip: order dessert with the start of the meal so the wait is less.More

Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is
Rome’s oasis. A neighbourhood made up of a patchwork
of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and
embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the

the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of
