“Marenna” means “snack” in the Neapolitan dialect , but it is not exactly the same... The word derives from the Latin “merère”, meaning “to deserve.” For the Neapolitan, the marénna is not just any snack, but a meal “of substance” to deserve ... We were in Sorrento for ~24 hours and we came here twice…best sandwich I have ever had hands down. Honestly, probably one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life! We had the Leonardo and the Annare with the pizza bread. The bread was warm and soft and crunchy at the same time. The insides filled with an amazing combination of flavors and cheesy goodness. My husband also had the limoncello spritz which was delightful and included some lemon granita in it. He said it took a lot of will power not to guzzle it all down at once. Their lemon granita alone is delicious, but it comes in a tiny cup, so I recommend ordering 2 at once. The woman taking orders is THE SWEETEST (very personable, kind, and attentive)! She even remembered us when we came back the next day. Note: This is a TINY place (maybe 6 seats inside and 6 seats outside) and only 2 people working so expect to wait, especially if you come during peak hours (expect at least an hour). It takes time to make the sandwiches perfectly crisp and melted and they only have a couple of machines to make them. Even if you want to order something to go, you still wait in the same line (if there is a line, based on your place in line they will take your order as soon as the kitchen thinks it’ll have capacity so if you are dining there you’ll get your food as fast as possible). The first time we went was ~3pm and we got a seat right away. Food still took awhile (perfection takes time). I think if you order the non-pizza bread sandwiches it takes less time; however they highly recommend the other bread and it is delicious (cannot vouch for the other type of bread). The second time we went at ~1pm and waited 1 hour and 20 minutes to get the sandwiches to go. We ended up missing the ferry we had planned to leave on, but it was totally worth it! Still day dreaming about these sandwiches and I’m sure I will be for a long time! If you are in Sorrento, you have to go!

Delightful sandwich shop. Run by two amazing young ladies. The freshly made sandwiches, caprese and charcuterie are expertly done. Always something special. We spent a delightful evening with the girls drinking wine and visiting while they waited on a fun crowd of locals and visitors alike. The place was full of laughter and song. We will never forget that evening in Sorrento. Can't wait to return some day soon.

Visited 3 times in 3 days due to the very tasty sandwiches and great service. They offer roughly 10 different sandwiches, the bread is made in a local pizzeria and is so tasty. Do try the tasty lemon slushy that is made with local lemons and is very refreshing. They have a gluten free and vegan menu if you ask for it and are happy to adapt the sandwiches if needed.

Your visit to Sorrento will undoubtedly allow you to have your fill of pasta and pizza. But when you’ve had enough of finding somewhere for lunch and want something local but different that’s great quality and inexpensive - this is the place to go. Only thing to watch for is the wait: could be 20 mins from order to having your sandwich in your hands - but when you do stroll down to the waterfront and enjoy the view while at you eat. .

What a place. We spent 5 days in Sorrento and had lunch here on four of those days. The ladies who work here are so friendly and chatty and make the whole experience much more enjoyable. The menu is great with lots of different sandwiches and all at such a reasonable price. Also make sure to try the limoncello spritz, it’s the best in Sorrento.

Small cosy restaurant/bar which feels like being at home. The two ladies running A’Marenna are super friendly there is no rush at all enough time is taken to advise on the menu and allow for tasting the wine before deciding on a bottle. Food is absolutely fantastic both sandwiches (all made on order) and platters. Would come anytime again to this place

When you think of Italy, most of you are probably thinking of pizza, pasta, and caprese. Think again, if you are a foodie and looking for a true italian experience, you'll want to plan on making a stop here. Owned by two best friends, greeting you with a smile, and a warm welcome to their restaurant. From local ingredients, fresh produce, and delicious beverages, you came to the right spot for the perfect sandwich. You will also want to ask for their signature limoncello spritz. With a little bit of lemon and ocean. It is AMAZING!!! I highly suggest getting a few plates and splitting if you have two or more people. Highly suggest telling them what you like to eat and what you don't and them have them make a suggestion! You will not regret it!

We ate here twice in the last week, and would have gone more times if we had the chance! The sandwiches are exceptional quality, super fresh bread filled with a variety of top-quality ingredients. You can choose from standard combos or their original filling combinations, and also choose the type of bread you want. We went for the panuozzo both times, a neapolitan flatbread filled and then toasted - heaven! The staff are so kind, friendly and helpful, with prompt and efficient service at all times. There are only a handful of tables to sit at, but just down the road is a lovely park with benches and a stunning view of Vesuvius, so takeaway is a great option also.

The A‘ Marenna is definitely an insider tip in Sorrento! They make the best panino around Napoli, have a rich menu with vegetarian and vegan alternatives, high quality ingredients and an awesome service. The atmosphere is very informal and nice, so I never felt uncomfortable going there also alone. Always worth a visit!

You must go! Regrettably we only went once but we had the best panini sandwich ever! Also had a cheese board which was delicious! Try the limoncello spritz and ask for a bit of lemon granita in it - really delicious. Great friendly ladies run this place. You may have to wait as it is tiny and rightly so they are keeping everyone well spaced out at the moment but it is worth it.

These are hands down the best sandwiches of all time. I am a huge sandwich lover and was absolutely blown away by these panuozzo’s. They are made fresh to order and the bread is truly mouth watering. The Annare and the regio were our favorites although they are all amazing. My husband and I lived in Sorrento for a month and we ate here almost every day. They were that good!! And the shop is owned by two cousins who are the most wonderful human beings and bring so much joy, pride and love into what they do, it’s just such a special place. Cannot miss it if you are in Sorrento!!!

My wife and I stopped in here for a quick, late afternoon snack to hold us until dinner. We were greeted by a very energetic and friendly owner. We split a panini made in folded pizza dough (#6 with artichokes) - it came served as two dishes and was very hot. The beer I had was probably the coldest we had experienced in our 3 week trip. It was so good, that we went back the next day to do it again! The second day, the owners had great music going and were singing/dancing as they took care of their clients. They are so much fun ... like a special sauce on the food they serve!

This is just must-go if you’re staying or passing through Sorrento. The panuozzo tastes even better than it looks and it’s reasonably priced. The downside is they waiting time in the queue but it’s definitely worth it. The staff is very nice as well. Highly recommend it.

I have been to Sorrento twice now and I have always come back to A’Marenna. It has the quintessential essence of Italy through its small quaint location to the absolutely delicious food! You will always see people queuing to get the food here and what I love is that when it’s really busy, they’ll give you time slot so you can explore the local area and then come back to your perfect meal. Thoroughly recommend!

We first visited A' Marenna in 2019 soon after their opening. It was a new find for us, but a memorable one. During our two years of Covid, and 4 cancelled trips to Italy, my wife and I routinely talked about the great paninis from 2019, and saying we couldn't wait to return. Fast forward to 2022, along with family, we went to A' Merenna immediately upon arriving in Sorrento. All 5 paninis on that day were wonderful. The paninis were so tasty, we went back 4 times during our 6 days in Sorrento! Not only is the food great, the owners, Iride and Anna are great people and very entertaining. Just ask Anna to play her favorite songs, then stand back and watch. Obviously, we go to out for food to eat, but when the people and the environment is like a family gathering, and entertaining, it's an experience!
