We found Il Tagliere by accident and what a pleasure it was. The place has a nice cosy atmosphere & the food was delicious. Nothing touristy about this place, just excellent service, a good range of dishes on the menu - and unlike the hundreds...of pizzerias in Salerno not a pizza to be found! Just good traditional Italian cuisine cooked to perfection- if you are visiting Salerno it is a must visit!More

Stopped in here for our first meal in Salerno and we weren't disappointed. We weren't very hungry so didn't have antipasti, but the meat and cheese boards looked very good, cut right off of the smoked joints and wheels in the case at the front...of the restaurant. My husband had the ragu and said it was probably the best pasta he's ever had and among top 5 meals ever - it really was excellent. I had the pork with salad, nuts and cheese - it was nice as well, but didn't compare to that ragu! The menu isn't extensive but has enough to make most people happy. Lots of choice on wine, and decently priced. Had a connolo for dessert which was also good though served in four separate pieces (easier to eat with a spoon, I guess!), and my husband had tiramisu. The menu is completely in Italian so you need to have an idea of what things are or a good translate app, though the waitresses spoke English pretty well. A warning - as of when we went (Feb 2019) they ONLY TAKE CASH, so be prepared not to be able to pay by card! We paid €55 for two courses and a bottle of wine. Overall it's a nice atmosphere, decently priced and good food, can't go wrong!More

A restaurant where the standard of food and service is second to none. Without doubt the most delicious gnocchi I have tasted- small pearl sized pasta with pecorino cheese sauce and truffle shavings- totally decadent- Dessert of individual tiramisu in small pots and terrific short...black coffee- before leaving complimentary Limoncello served with chilled shot glasses. The passion the owner chef and his sister who runs the front of the restaurant put into this place makes it a must on foodies lists in Italy.More

Went for dinner with my daughter who is studying at the uni in Salerno. The place is really cosy and quaint and seems to be very much a family run place. Everyone was so friendly, the restaurant so relaxing with the perfect ambiance. The food...was amazing! Started with cheeses and mixed salamis etc then we had a couple of options from the main courses (names escape me now) and it was some of the finest food I have tasted. Couldn't recommend it enough, will definitely go back when I return to Salerno!More

A cosy little spot in Salerno. The restaurant itself is small and has a rustic feel to it. It is popular for its cheese, different types of salami and there are many different wines to choose from. 'Il tagliere' for 2 was delicious. Our cheese...and salami were served on a wooden board with bread, olive oil and interesting sauces and honey. The service was fantastic and the waiters/waitresses were very helpful and friendly. I would book in advance for a table. Buon Appetito 🍴More

Tonight we had the pleasure of dining at Il Tagliere. Being a Tuesday night the restaurant was relatively empty, which meant that as the menu was in Italian the waitress and her friend (who didn't work there but came in to help us with the...Italian/English translations) were able to give us loads of attention. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and at home. I can't rave enough about the ambiance of the place. The food hanging off the walls give the whole restaurant a delicious feel. When the chef came out and grabbed some ingredients straight from the walls - spectacular! The food it's self was soft and delicate while filling us up perfectly. Our waitress advised us on what to order off the menu (as it was in Italian - and my Italian is rudimentary at best) and everything she suggested was perfect. We started with an antipasti of cheese, salami and ham. The salami was to die for. Melted in your mouth. We then had a broccoli and a dried chilli orecchiette pasta as a main... the amount of flavour that came through with these three simple ingredients was amazing. Finally we ended with a chocolate lava cake and a tiramisu - home made, on the spot. Heaven! They were also able to match a nice red wine with our meal - one of our favourite glasses of our month long sojourn through Italy. In short - great service, amazing food, and a very authentic Italian experience.More

Stumbled upon this restaurant during my visit to Salerno tucked away in a neighborhood off the beaten path. The food was delicious and the staff was welcoming, warm, and friendly. The slight language barrier was well compensated and they were patient as we spoke no...Italian. The restaurant was clean and well decorated. I recommend this place to everyone who visits Salerno.More
