Having now read some of the previous reviews it is obvious what we should have expected. However, we stumbled upon this restaurant quite by chance and being up for a bit of a challenge we stayed. Its definitely a place that time has forgotten. Long benches to sit at and quite dimly lit but the place still looked interesting. We... More

This is my 11th time at Dona Efiginia´s. She is a charming old lady that has had the same menu for 50+ years. You sit down and you get a basic Gomerian dinner served: Gofio (a special local grain), mojo, vegetable soup, salad with fruit and vegetables, goat´s cheese, almond creme caramel and an orange liquor. All was served in... More

We had heard about this restaurant and so planned to walk and then to have lunch. It was quiet when we arrived but soon filled up, everyone having the menu of the day, no other choice as far as we could see.We only ordered one meal as we had been told portions were large and so glad we did as... The food here was a cut above other Gomeran food we experienced and the service was warm and friendly (we sat by the fire). We had read a few other reviews saying that the food and service we no longer great, but they must have fixed whatever went wrong, because our meal was fantastic.

We first visited this delightful idiosyncratic rural restaurant 3 months ago when we called for a drink. We were served the house special, fresh orange juice blended with papaya. We enjoyed this so much with a slice of home made cake that we decided last week to return for lunch. The restaurant is run by a charming elderly lady Efigenia, who... More

During our stay in Valle gran rey we went hiking and stopped for a break at Casa Efigenia. It's a nice spot to fresh up on your Spanish as they don't speak any English. we had coffee and cake (with palm syrup). the cake was baked by the owner herself, who is an old Lady, and we all felt like... Situated with a beautiful view over the valley. Long traditional history, and famous for serving traditional vegetarian food. But The personell were completely without a clue, Efigenia herself is too old and are letting other people handle the customers. The mixed up the orders, and forgot to serve what was ordered. The food was surprisingly tasteless and boring. The exception... More

The second time at this place for us was not so good. Staff unatentive and almost rude. Food exactly the same as last year. Good but not great.

Have visited this traditional little place on both our visits to La Gomera and although we haven't had a full meal here have enjoyed a coffee and piece of traditional cake with palm syrup. Well worth a morning or afternoon stop whilst walking.

This family resto is a delight. The owner is an old amazingly kind and energetic woman who makes sure to greet and talk to each person coming in. She cooks a fixed veggie menu from fresh organic ingredients in her garden. Everything was super delicious, real local food, fresh and very filling. You can eat and lodge at this place,... More
