We are staying in the old city of Valencia and our hotel recommended this restaurant. They made us a reservation but when we arrived there was no record and the hostess acted like it was a huge favor to seat us. They sat us in the back room which was lovely. Partially enclosed and nice temperature. The service was mediocre... More

Casa Carmela is renowned for its Paella. It is only open for lunch. We had the seafood paella: delicious! (I am on a 'seafood diet': when I see food, I eat it :-) In high season make sure you make a reservation.

We went to this restaurant on recondition from a Spanish friend. We ordered the Paella which was great - big portion and very tasty. The razor clams were abit fishy to my taste. However the dessert (fruit plate) was SO disappointing. We paid €6 euros for this please see pictures attached. Other that that, service was just okay. We overheard... More

We were lucky to reserve a table for lunch (this restaurant only serves lunch 1.00pm to 4.00pm) the day before and ordered the original paella which requires advance booking. It is truly an experience as the paella is cooked with rabbit, chicken, duck, small escargots, artichoke and flat beans. The stock for the paella is cooked for an hour. The... More

I would go for a selection of appetizers next time. Shrimps were too delicious to describe. Yes, you have to wait for paela. Yes, you should call and book a table but we were lucky to get one without reservation. Beware siesta and opening times ,)

This is definitely a place to go with friends for Seafood and Paella. It doesn't look like much from the street, however, it has nice bar and seafood display when you enter a visible Paella kitchen and the service is top notch, as is the food. Many different dished to choose from and many Paellas. Well worth it!!

Although our hotel was in the city we took the time to book a table for lunch here in advance & head to the beach to experience this lovely old venue. Glad we did ! Try the Puntilla frita, the best baby fried octopus we'd ever had, & the Paella Mariner was delicious too. The 3 course meal for 2... More

We started with puntilla frita and then with a pulpo a la brasa. The sauce, the paprika sauce together with the potatoes and the octopus was like heaven! 🐙🌑🌈🌈Mums. So worthy not expensive at all. We had a cava while waiting in the "barra" so amazing to see how they cook paella a la brasa. Great to have the tips... More

A local friend told us to try Casa Carmela for an authentic paella. We were not disappointed. We started our lunch with perfectly-grilled, tender sepia served with fragrant olive oil. We followed with the Paella de Marisco (seafood paella) - fragrant, tender, deliciously seasoned al dente rice with a perfect 'socarrat' (the brown, crispy layer that forms on the bottom... More
