La Biotika offers lunch menus which are well constructed in terms of vitamins, proteins and carbohydrates. You have a few options to choose from. It's inexpensive, and the service is amazingly quick. La Biotika is certainly one of the best option to eat healthy and quickly in Madrid!!!

This is a small vegetarian restaurant with excellent food. There was a "menu" (set of choices) that included a vegetarian salad or soup, main dish and dessert, or a vegan/macrobiotic main course, or a combination. The owner was very helpful about explaining food. He says they vary the menu every day. If we had been in Madrid longer, I would... More

Usually i don't like this style of menu, like choose the A, B or C, but all of them seems very interesting and finally was. I choose a menu and for 15 eyro i had a nice soup of dahl, a small salad with an interesting sauce and then main dish which includes steamed vegetables, sticky rice with nuts and... More

Our daughter researched veggie friendly restaurants for our visit and this was one of her selections. What a great experience we had. It's a fixed price for a 3 course meal - you can add extra items if you wish. The waiter spoke good English to explain the Spanish menu. Everything is vegan or vegetarian, such a delight! The service... More

If you hate happiness you will love La Biotika. I am sure that the food is perfectly healthy but it is hard to imagine a less flavoursome menu. With not a fresh herb in sight we were left to eat the world's saddest soups, vegetarian mince and miscellaneous vegan mush. All this was possibly accompanied by green veggies but they... More

My husband and I dined here on two separate trips to Madrid. Both times we were immensely satisfied with the quality of the food and the beauty of the preparation. It can be difficult to find vegetarian food in Spain, so I was thrilled to happen upon La Biotika during our first visit. They also serve wine which was a... More

Always open, offers macrobiotic vegetarian cuisine, mostly vegan (only exception are some diary deserts). Tends to promote the fix price daily menu, tasty and healty. Also available à la carte selection, more expensive. The atmosphere and the cold behaviour of the waiters do not make you feel very comfortable.

Vegan restaurant that serves set menus that are good value and fairly tasty. I would recommend the croqueta or the chickpeas. Some of the other things were a bit bland but all in all it was preferable to going to any other restaurant in Madrid that doesn't even know what a vegan is.

Macrobiotic vegetarian restaurant. Located in Madrid center, in the Barrio de las Letras. A cozy and quiet place to enjoy vegetarian and macrobiotic food. A good place for a healthy daily meal.

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
