Just found tha place after walking and wonder in Gran Via. First of all, this place smells like Old Madrid and truly Spain. There you can see how spaniard sided to go to tapas bar and restaurant. About food: I took daily lunch menu and for 13 euro the combinations are incredible! Black rise and while pollock fish... Amazing. Service,... More

I decided to pay a visit to this restaurant since my hotel recommended it. The man in a bar sent me upstairs, where my friend and me were met by a man with a pronounced air of hostility about him, una cara de mala leche. Our hotel sent him greetings so I think he is the owner of the place.... More

Enjoyed my meal and the food was good, but I paid 60 Euros for a meal that was similar to one for 40 in other restaurants in the area.

Looking for something authentic rather then fancy? In this case you have found the right place to go. Good quality food, nice service. It's not cheap but worth every cent. The solomillo was so tender you didn't even need a knive. N-Joy!

We stumbled in here by accident our first night in Madrid. This is the real deal a neighborhood bar where regulars come to eat & talk. (& incidentally watch futbol). The Staff's charming, helpful & welcoming. Obviously we didn't try everything on the menu - but if you don't eat anything else in Madrid - have the "Gambad al ajillo"... More

Once we discovered this little restaurant, we ate there every day (usually twice a day). We got a warm welcome each time, once complimentary liqueurs from the owner. Downstairs is a tapas bar, no frills, with very good value tapas, bocadillas, etc. Upstairs, the restaurant, with tables laid with white linen tablecloths and napkins, offers the most amazing 'menu del... Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
