This is a large restaurant on several floors but it does not feel crowded, and the staff are very efficient. For starters we shared spicy sausage and asparagus. The roast lamb is a speciality, and two of us had this - it was excellent. The others had a fish dish and a risotto with rabbit. We followed this with desserts... More

The roasted lamb is very good, and so it should be at almost €50 (for two persons). The house Rioja Reserva at €25 a bottle is also very nice. So when looking for something else than tapas in Madrid this is a good place to visit.

A nice restaurant, very pleasant, efficient service, and the lamb is a must! They put a lot of salt on the salads but that's probably everywhere in Spain :)

Our first night in Madrid and we had a memorable meal at The Posada de la Villa. This is an excellent venue for large groups, family groups or couple. The service is quick and yet graceful.

Visited on a Thursday night, not many people downstairs in the room we were in, we were looked after by two waiters one young boy who was clearly new but tried very hard (even though he dropped our lamb on the table) and the 2nd waiter who was older was very rude and direct. The Lamb was okay, not bad... More

Wow! You gotta work to this place's strength which is its signature lamb. The lamb is superb. Prepared simply and without pretention, it was as Mediterranean lamb should be - quite understated but absolutely complete. The rest of the stuff we ordered was a competent compliment to the lamb. The service was capable if somewhat stuffy - not unusual in... More

Fabulous atmosphere. as you enter you can see the lamb roasting in a huge oven. The food was excellent. We started with velvety grilled mushrooms, sweet tender grilled calamari, the creamiest croquettes and very special stuffed peppers. Our wonderful waiter let us know that there was no rush to serve our entrée; we could have it immediately or rest a... More

We went to the restaurant after having visited it for the first time some years back. At that time I did not try the lamb. Going back this time was certainly worth it. Some of us had the house specialty this time, and what a treat!! Tender, crispy, tasty........wow! Combined with an excellent wine list (and very reasonable pricing), we... More

Even if we were in a big group the service was perfect (really efficient). The dishes/tapas were very good and the lamb (main course, the must of the restaurant) really excellent! It seems to be the oldest tavern of Madrid. You can go there, you will be satisfied.

Staying in La Latina

Neighbourhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighbourhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighbourhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
