We had no idea what to expect when we went to La Castafiore but were blown away by the wonderful singers and the very talented pianist. They performed some very famous opera pieces with verve and energy, as well as some popular favourites. The food was excellent and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

What a fantastic evening at La Castafiore! Having been here nine years ago for our daughters 21st birthday we were back with friends last Saturday evening. Our four friends had no idea what to expect at this wonderful place! The food was very good but the entertainment and atmosphere was superb! The staff were amazing! Unforgettable evening!

fabulous food accompanied by wonderful opera singers. Oh ma bambino caro made me cry it was sang so beautifully. Although it was a totally Spanish experience they made me very welcome. All the singers were excellent but the piano player was not given the recognition he deserved. we ended the evening with cava ann and conga.

If you are an Opera lover this is the place where you can have an excellent dinner and listening to the servers singing arias and traditional spanish songs. I had the time of my life.

La Castafiore is not an usual restaurant you go for the food, you go for the whole experience. The waiters are amazing opera singers, and no, you don't need to like opera(I particularly don't) to enjoy this place. I highly recommend! Food and show were amazing!

I've gone here several times with friends and work colleagues, usually during the holidays. The show is fun and lively and the singers are impressive. As for the food, it's often hit and miss. Usually it's OK and I've rarely been served something that was not good. I'd definitely go back but not exactly for the food.

Very good food and service and excellent entertainment with parts that surprised us and makes us think about the evening long after we have returned to Sweden and Finland.

We had an amazing evening. We were celebrating a special occasion, and the place seemed to fit. We were a bit nervous - some of us were not the big opera lovers and others were concerned about the "skill" of the singers... The place exceeded our expectations! It was a pure fun The only challenge was that none of the... More

We had much fun attending the 9pm dinner where we were entertained by talented opera singers. Our evening ended with a cava toast for the new year (on January 16th) and a conga dance around the restaurant with fellow diners. However be very careful of what you order and request a English menu. We chose the mid range pre fix... More

La Castafiore is the leading restaurant in Europe (since 1996) for opera, operetta and entertainment. Diners are offered a live operatic show during dinner enacted by the restaurant's singing waiters. The piano sets the mood for the evening and music is present throughout the meal. At midnight La Castafiore invites diners to toast the cast of La Traviata with a glass of Cava.

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
