This place is noisy, crowded, dark and at weekends there are no seats. That could be bad, but that also means it is vibrant, different and lively. I don't mind standing up while eating the best Spanish tortilla of my life! We tried other tortillas in other restaurants during our stay but this one was the only one worth writing... More

We found out about this place from a local and it was busy and crowded on each of our three visits. To get to the room in the back you have to crawl under the bar. The food is so good that we saw local willing to do the limbo to get to the back room. We had the Spanish... More

Two entrances, wide bar but no depth. Lucky to find a seat and locals (almost family) bobbing in and out. Some people's nightmare bar but, if you want to experience a typical bar in Madrid that serves its neighbourhood, then this is it. A round of cañas with tapa of tuna canapés cost 4.80€ and served with a smile. Always... More

Went here based on positive reviews from a friend. Nothing wrong with it, but didn't find anything special either. Crowded and only standing tables. We got two beers and the "famous" artichokes. Had to ask twice for the bill, charged for food we didn't get, given wrong change. No plans to return, given the experience.

Need I say more? Been here 4 days in a row because it's a little Spanish gem. Try their tortilla because it is literally the best ever. The house made Vermut is also very very tasty, enjoy it with a plate of Spanish olives or great chips.

Staying in Chamberi

Neighbourhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighbourhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
