Went for lunch with 3 people total. Came with olives for free. Split the feira octopus (medium size) and grilled octopus. Was very good but was pricy. It was not a full meal but rather a snack which is what we wanted. As a big fan of octopus I thought it was worth it. Went around 1 in the afternoon and was not busy at all. Alcohol is normally priced compared with other places and service was good.

We found this restaurant by googling razor clams but ended up having regular clams, padron peppers and the most fabulous salad tower with bitter leaves, warm scallops and a beautiful sherry dressing. We went at 7.30pm because we are British which is incredibly early by Spanish standards but it was low-key in a brilliant way. Great service. Handy location two minutes from the Sol bear. Don't be put off by the construction work outside!Highlight of our holiday.

With our love of grilled octopus, we thought we'd give this restaurant a try. The front has pub style tables with stools but we sat in the back at regular tables and that suited us better. With our beverages they gave us a nice little dish of marinated veggies and seafood. It was very good. When I mentioned I had celiac, the waiter provided me with a list of allergens from which I could be sure there was no gluten in my choices. We shared a scallop, avocado & sesame salad, grilled squid and grilled octopus. It was all very good.

My husband really wanted to go here. First time we tried, it was almost midnight so the kitchen was closed. We tried again later during our trip, this time around 9:30 and were turned away again. The server said bar seating only, but the bar was full and tables were free. Fine, so then we asked can we sit outside, to which she said only an hour, so we did that. As we were eating our meal, we noticed some people from the bar, going to the tables and some late walk ins going to the table for quick bites. So that treatment was really off putting.
Regardless, we wrapped up our meal ordering 3 dishes and a couple of classes of wine. I would say the octopus was good, but not anything better than I’ve had at other places in Madrid. We also got the fried octopus which I had not seen elsewhere which good. Lastly we ordered mussels, which was quite a large portion and tasted okay. Everything was very plainly prepared, which isn’t a bad thing, but I was expecting something more special based on these reviews. Also we were not given any bread with any of the things we ordered, which is very odd for any place in Spain. Overall experience was meh, I could easily pass on this one.
If you are going to have bad service the food better be fantastic or vice versa.

Nice ambient, good service even if some details could be better. The prices are OK for the quality of the food. The quantity are just sufficient, the portion could be a little bigger... The portion are the one from,"big" tapas but the prices from normal dishes... However it is worth to notify that the small appetizer (very good Spanish olives) that were brought at the beginning were not to be extra paid as I expected and at it is the case in some other restaurant in Spain! Good point!

Nice place! Staff is patient and English is available.
Food is a bit oily but still fine and tastes good. They offer sweet and spicy ones. You can finish the food on your own so good for solo traveling.

If you want octopus that's worth it, this is the perfect place! Perfect octopus, we ordered it with cachelos on the side, the waitress recommended some seafood dish and we opted for the zamburiñas, delicious! They treated us great, young and willing people, they have a menu with all kinds of options. A 10 for this place in the heart of Madrid.

Very nice Pupperia with great relaxed service and really fantastic food. The Pulpo is always the star of the show but all other dishes we have tried have also been spot on. Very reasonably priced, the value for money is amazing. Great atmosphere, service is always fast and the staff are really friendly. highly recommended definitely worth a visit.

I've been here a couple of times and I love Octopus. It's a shame the potato doesn't come with the Octopus as this is the traditional way to have it so you need to order this separately. I had the scallop salad and this was ok but nothing special, it was over flavoured with maggi liquid seasoning so I found it a bit too salty for this reason and wan't refreshing enough for a seafood salad. However, the winner for me were their croquettes, the best I have ever had. The ox tail croquettes punch a massive flavour of slow cooked beef stew. The garlic prawn croquettes were unbelievable and I can't understand how they made them taste so fresh. I would definitely come back here.

A friend who knew me recommended this pulperia and he was not wrong.
Day Saturday lunchtime, there were tables available to accompany Tempranillo wine with some padrón peppers, which stood guard to feira octopus in the style of o’carballiño.
Very good taste and appropriate quantity for two diners who were satisfied and happy.
Good service.
I'd come back!

A real disappointment, absolutely mediocre place. We ordered a portion of octopus with the intention of ordering something else later and it turned out to be an absolute fiasco, very small pieces, I asked one of the "friendly" employees if they always presented it like this or was it that we got the remains of other portions and not He was kind enough to answer me, the flavor was correct, a little soft, but they almost must have given us some spoons since those little pieces were difficult to pick up with a fork. Not expensive price, I guess that's where its fame comes from, customers who go for the price and don't look for quality.

I went with my mother because someone recommended this restaurant and turns out it was a ten out of ten. The octopus is their specialty for one reason, it's delicious, perfect texture! But the rest of the dishes seems really good too, based on what we order, bcause the croquettes are one of the best I've tried as well as the razor clams. Also, their staff is really kind with you to recommend some dishes and the best quantity for the table, and the place is really cosy and well maintained.

We ordered a few raciones but the pulpo was really really delicious. We were a bit hesitant because we reserved for Christmas Day. Not many restaurants were open on that day and the place is situated in tourist trap territory. We were pleasantly surprised. Good value for money too. ''

The product and the cooking was very good. From starts to deserts.
On the downside the place is always busy, so they forgot to bring us the water, and not all the staff members have the knowledge to explain the dishes or the wine production. Even so a recommended place, to take into account a bit on the expensive side portions/cost.

I went to eat on the recommendation of a friend and we tried the octopus, grilled squid, clams and their dessert called "Filloas". Everything was spectacular and the dessert was a discovery for us. The service was also very friendly.
We will definitely come back.

Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
