After many great reviews I decided to stop by, and it did not live up to expectations. The food was average, not great or out of the ordinary, mostly like a decent tourist trap. Go here for a nice meal near Plaza Mayor, but don't...More

I have only read other travellers reports on this restaurant since coming home, so I see that it has mixed responses. So, 4 adults went for lunch - 2 had chicken paella which was freshly made and they said was delicious. My wife had lambs...More

Located in the Latin Quarter, La Traviesa filled our need for paella and red wine. Our waiter was kind and helpful, the lighting a bit bright, but friendly, and dinner was comforting. We also enjoyed chatting with the locals around the bar.

Good location, friendly waiters and good Spanish tapas. Fish dishes are only mediocre, go for ham etc. Seating outdoor a bit distrurbing with all the street vendors..

This was a recommendation of our guide. Mr. Satt. He was absolutely right. The ‘racion’ of Iberian cured acorn ham was second to none. La Traviesa was an unexpected and pleasant surprise in the Plaza Mayor district, although it may not be an appropriate place for tourists...More

Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street
performers, colorful lights, window shopping,
restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and
churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a
collection of plazas interconnected by a network of
side streets. Some of these side streets are wide
pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so
it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as
