Loved the food and the ambiance of the place. Lunch menu of the day was true to the expected Madrid quality and reasonably priced.

I visited Casa Fidel several times on a recent trip to Madrid. I was there in the morning for coffee and pan con tomate. I had lunch there and also went for wine and tapas. I found it to be very charming, clean and pleasant. Casa Fidel is a no frills, traditional neighborhood place where one can drop in any... More

We got to the restaurant pretty late (00:30) and we weren't expecting to have dinner. The restaurant owner received us and the only thing she said was that we should ask fast! They were very kind and the food was simply excellent, like homemade! I had grilled squids ;) I strongly advise you to pass by Casa Fidel one of... More

The restaurant is charming, the service is friendly and fast, the meals are just middle class and a bit expensive (compared to quality) But definitly not bad and in fact a cool place to spend a familiar time with some friends.

We found this place while we were wondering through Chueca. While we were walking around we noticed that most shops closed around 14:00. So, while realizing this we went back to this really awesome basic looking place. We were attracted by its charisma and the cool oldskool scooters standing outside. We went in and immediately we were greeted by the... More

I have just arrived from Casa Fidel, walking through Malasana in a wonderful night. I found the place to be the sophisticated version of a typical traditional restaurant in Madrid. Clean ventilated atmosphere with super high ceilings. Very helpful waiter, who easily communicated in English. Relaxed 30ish and 40ish atmosphere with several foreign languages heard in other tables (to our... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
