I have eaten in this restaurant many times and it always surprises me with beautiful traditional food. The fishballs are absolutely outstanding as well as the ox tail. The service is the best in Madrid, they look after you as if you were at home....More

This was on Eater 38's list in Madrid and provides home-style Spanish at great prices. The service was great and the place was packed with bullfighting history. This is definitely a great place for excellent Spanish food at good prices.

Had oxtails that were great. Also had veal steak that was the best we had in Spain. The bill came and they charged us in US $. Not a good exchange rate. So be sure you check.

Juan was a wonderful waiter. We drank some wonderful Spanish wine and tasted a few traditional dishes. We loved viewing the matador bull fighting paintings and photos. Our favorite dish was the oxtail followed by the veal meatballs. A fun family evening.

Hemingway used to dine here and you can see why. Old school, classy, and delicious. We had the blood sausage, croquettas, ox tail, breaded hake, and fried milk. All spectacularly delicious. The ox tail and hake were especially good. As was the gin and tonic....More

Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where
many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where
the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and
people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main
thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is
Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables
serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture
of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses
