Came here after we had walked out of San Gines due to the rudeness f the staff. Pleasantly busy and full of Spanish speaking customers. Easy to understand menu and great staff; although our waiter didn't speak English he tried his best to make sure we were happy and got what we wanted. Churros and chocolate were fantastic and, best... More

RESTAURANT'S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 20 January 2017 via mobile

A true gem! Great little spot for breakfast away from the touristy precinct of Sol. This place was packed full of locals. Friendly staff who were happy for us to practice our limited Spanish & delicious chocolate and churros - a very happy find 😀

Late night churros and smooth chocolate. The final stop on our tapas tour. A super ending to an evening of tasting traditional Spanish food

This location was close to our hotel but that wasnt the reason we kept going back everyday! Service was fast and efficient and the Chocolate and churros was delicious! not too sweet and rich and thick. Stick with the thin churros. The thick ones were too greasy

Their specialty is very good and well priced. Their teas and cakes are also quite good. Sandwiches are pretty good but I feel are over priced. They serve a dia which has limited choices that I have not tried, but sounds good and affordable. In summery I would go for their namesake. Have visited five times. Also the service has... More

The churros were delicious, the waitress was very condescending and unfriendly. On top of that, she made us pay for 3 portions of churros although we only had two. She also let us wait for the bill for almost half an hour, while she stood in the kitchen and drank coffee and talked to the chef and she called my... More

Hellos Cass, we 're very sorry for this misunderstood. The waitress insistence that you understood as condescending, was just ment with good intention, for you to try the churros with the chocolate. Together they 're delicious! And are our house especial. The comment of "weird table" was not said about you n or.Not it was because you ordered water, of... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
