We were searching for breakfast and accidentally came across this eatery. Needless to say it was our breakfast stop every day. Coffee €1.20 ham on a large crusty roll €1 need I say more? We stopped off here to take rolls to the airport again €1 a little more if you want two fillings. Bread and pastries are freshly baked... More

Great franchise restaurant in Plaza Mayor with a lot of absolute top foods, best Calamari sandwich of my life. I think many local people eat and drink here. Higly recommended. Prices are amazing low at the desk, but on the terrace of course already pretty higher.

ham everywhere of course! I do not love ham so... went in here given that it was right in our path and someone else was hungry...here you can get inexpensive little ( or huge) sandwiches ( bocadillos) bread, ham and cheese tapas style, but you can just quickly step in and get your food choosing from the food stands where... Don't bother with the low cost jamón plate--get the ibérico. The prices are standard--reasonable. Spaniards frequent this chain for jamón and beer--sipping and eating at any hour of the day. It will be most full between 6-9pm.

This restaurant is recommended by locals,, and is great value. You can eat on the run at the bar, or go downstairs to the restaurant. The beer is cold, the food comes quickly and is generous, and it's not expensive. What else do you want? recommended.

This is a very popular restaurant, which unfortunately means that at some times you will have to wait to be seated and to be served; but the wait is worth it.

I was there two times to eat the breakfast. It costed 3,3, Euro and I got bocadillos with ham, coffee and glass of orange juice. There were many people sitting at the bar. The atmosphere was typical spanish (loud talks). The service quite kind. Typical place to drink coffee and eat something delicious.

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
