We loved everything about Mestizo. The service was great, the food was delicious and the margaritas tasted really good. My husband ordered the Enchiladas Cancun and I ordered green enchiladas, we enjoyed every bite of them! We also shared a chicken soup and it was very tasty, probably one of the best I have ever had. We loved this restaurant,... More

Went here with some friends for dinner. The place has great atmosphere and the staff is super friendly. They spoke some English and menu is in both Spanish and English. BIG PLUS!! Staff was very attentive and friendly. They were helpful with questions on dishes. Food is very beautifully presented and burst with lots of flavor. I tried some dishes... More

While looking for a plane to dine near our hotel in Madrid, we came across Mestizo, Restaurant & Tequila Bar. At first sight, the restaurant was un-inviting, dull lighting, awkward & sitting arrangement.... The warm welcome and the helpful staff helped us to overcome the language barrier (English menu was available) and our first impression of the place. We were... More

More

I'm very familiar with Mexican food and decided to give this place a try because it was close to my hotel. It was disappointing. The food didn't have the Mexican spice I'm used to. So, food is acceptable but should not be called "authentic Mexican" food place.

We are sorry your experience was not satisfying and will take your comments into account to improve our service. However, we would like to point out that we use chilli peppers among many other spices and whenever one of our guests wishes their dish to be more on the hot side, they simply have to let us know and we'll... We went here for dinner a few nights back, while holidaying in madrid. We ordered margaritas, quesadillas, guacamole and enchilladas. The guacamole was excellent, but the quesadillas and both the mains were very average. The rice served particularly was disappointing.

I had a nice visits to the museum of archeology and wanted a relaxing lunch. While the food at Mestizo was actually quiet tasty, the service was not great. I actually felt like I was bothering the wait staff by being there. I ordered Tamales but wanted to keep the menu to see what else I wanted. The waiter said... More

After two weeks of Spanish food, we opted for Mexican on our last night and were well rewarded. Terrific food, great music in the background and a very friendly owner.

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
