walked around and decided to take a table on the terrace...the location was perfect on such a beautiful evening. Service was not great, food okay but what was really special is the disappearance of our server. I finally went in to see about paying the bill and after much confusion was told that our server had left. We probably should... More

Eaten here three times in total. The staff are lovely and create a nice atmosphere. Not just friendly but they make you feel special. Each one always makes a point of acknowledging you as they pass. Never any problem with avoiding eye contact here! The food has always been good but it is the staff who make it special. It... More

Tipical catalan cuisine, easy to choice, profesional staff. Food quality is ok, not superb but is ok. Rates are on regular. Terrace is really great on summer night.

We arrived to have a quick dinner and managed to get out within 30min, startling service. Also attentive and very helpful. We order two sirloin steaks (the most expensive cut) with different sauces - roquefort and mushrooms. The meat was cooked nicely but was lacking any flavour. All we could taste were the sauces. I would have liked the meat... More

We ate here on a Sunday night when all good restaurants are closed and only had very limited choice. We had the calamari (4/10, way too much batter and it had a strange orange colour) and artisan pate (6/10) for starters. For mains we had the cuttlefish with peas (5/10) and the veal with foie gras (7/10). For dessert we... More

It was very nice to eat out on the square...all good and incredibly reasonable. The Spanish economy is killing the restaurants..hope they all stay in business....with prices so low.

Description
Casa Marieta was founded in 1892, at the same time as the first stage of the modernist movement (the end of the 19th century) and the opening of the old narrow gauge train line between Girona and St. Feliu de Guixols.

Ever since, Casa Marieta has offered its customers home cooking based on tradition and a familiar welcome.

The Catalan sense of tradition is evident in all the dishes currently on the menu: chicken with crayfish, roast lamb, duck with pears, sepia with peas... All home-made.

Restaurant Casa Marieta is located on the emblematic Placa Independencia, in the beautiful city centre of Girona. The cathedral, which has the widest Gothic nave in the world, can be seen from the Square.

Crossing the stone bridge over the River Onyar, you enter the heart of the old city which has a historic relationship with the Jewish community: the Jewish Call and Torre Gironella.
