Lovely restaurant a stones throw away from the Rambla. Great service and food. A very happy Catalan family celebrating a birthday in one of the private dining rooms, which is always a good advertisement for a restaurant.

Traditional cuisine in an Old School environment. Good quality food, don't expect anything extravagant but enjoy the stable values of Mediterranean food. They also offer half bottles of wine from local producers. You get all of that close to the Avignon street that is a nice trendy road with interesting shops. Although many tourists come here it doesn't look really... More

In my opinion it’s how you react to a situation that shows the quality of the establishment. This looks great from the outside & is even better when you're inside, has a wonderful look & feel. The problem was my potato gratin was stone cold and so was my partners. I told the waiter & both plates were taken away.... More

We stumbled across El Gran Cafe on our first day in Barcelona. We popped in for lunch and ended up having dinner. We had to queue but it was well worth it, service was excellent and the food very good. The cafe had a great atmosphere, we had a window seat and watched the world go bye.

Mediocre food, poor service, rancid wine, indifferent management Regularly come to Barcelona. Better to eat street food on a park bench

restaurant is situated just behind the ramblas in the gothic quarter. Decor is very "old school" but this only adds to the charm. Service efficient but a bit slow. Food very good with quality ingredients cooked well

This place was recommended to us by Swiss friends - thanks Urs and Susi! We booked in advance for a latish lunch (not by local standards) The meet and greet was very efficient and we were seated promptly. First courses of grilled goat's cheese salad with honey vinaigrette and sauté of baby green beans, asparagus tips and peas with ibérico... More

The food was 3d rate. A waste of an evening out in Barcelona. Nice room, but that didn't make up for it.

I was determined to dine here as we had passed the restaurant so many times but for some reason we never made it so as we were returning for our wedding anniversary this month we decided to go on the first night we arrived. At first we were impressed the head waiter smiled when we entered & took us to... More

"El Gran Cafe' was one of the nicest places where we ate in Barcelona. A friend from Barcelona recommended it and you understand from the allioli's taste and the appetizers why. Everything was delicious. We had typical catalan starters like escalivada and another 1 also starting with an "e" but with codfish, then a marisc paella. You will surprise yourself... More
