We were recommended this restaurant by our son and it didn’t disappoint! You need to be patient but forceful at the same time as the staff are very busy. Ask for a menu from the bar as you arrive and sit down at any table that doesn’t have a reserved sign on it. It’s a fantastic authentic, busy Spanish/Catalan bar with locals eating and having a drink, and just socialising! We had 5 tapas (good portions) three beers and one cappuccino and it came to €42. Great value! This place is well worth hunting out!

Hit and run weekend in Barcelona with a visit to this place near the barceloneta. A very good choice because the food was of remarkable quality, both the fried calamari and the vinegar-glazed aubergines as well as an industrial quantity of tapas (jamon croquettes over the top), all mixed with tinto de verano. There must be a reason if the locals go there. The exhausting wait is certainly worth it even considering the negligible price paid

And a bullfighting vermouth in Jaica. It is a treasure for those looking for an authentic tavern, something that contrasts with many of the most touristic places in the area. This small bar, now two venues, has earned its fame for being a must-see for lovers of homemade tapas and the informal atmosphere. Las Bombeta is undoubtedly one of the stars of the card. These crunchy balls with a creamy interior are a burst of flavor, especially with the accompanying hot sauce. Perfect to share and start the experience. The Raspa highlights a nod to the most basic but delicious seafood cuisine. Eating the rasp has some ritual is a simple bite that connects you with the tradition of Barceloneta, that touch of bar of a lifetime. Vermouth is the ideal complement. In addition the atmosphere is another of its strengths. In its clientele, nostalgic locals, young people in search of authenticity, and some tourists who have heard of its good reputation are mixed. There is a pleasant bustle, with waiters going to a thousand an hour but always having a smile (albeit with a touch of humor characteristic of the area). A walk through Barceloneta, followed by tapas in Jaica, is the combination of the seafaring tradition with the energy of Barcelona. True, it can be touristic, but places like Jaica retain the authenticity that makes you feel part of the city. A perfect day to enjoy unhurriedly, with your feet in the sand and a vermu in your hand.

Jai-ca Bar in Barcelona is a fantastic spot to enjoy delicious tapas and soak in the local vibe. The variety of dishes on the menu is impressive, and everything we tried was flavorful and well-prepared. The patatas bravas and seafood options were particularly standout! The lively atmosphere adds to the experience, making it a fun place to unwind with friends. The only reason I'm giving it 4.5 stars instead of a full five is that the service was a bit slow during peak hours, but the staff was friendly and accommodating. Overall, Jai-ca Bar is definitely worth a visit for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Spanish cuisine in a vibrant setting!

Very nice typical place, you can breathe an air of tradition! Warm and family atmosphere. As soon as we arrived we were immediately accompanied to the table. We ordered a series of tapas, including some without sauces since my friend can't eat them. Everything was brought to us within 10 minutes even if everything with sauces. The waiters were immediately available to change the wrong dishes. All very good except the potato tortillas which unfortunately had a completely raw interior and therefore inedible. If it hadn't been for this inconvenience it would have also been very good, too bad! As soon as we finished eating we were immediately asked to get up to clear the table even though we had to finish the drinks.

The Tapas were amazing! This was our first time in Barcelona and this was the best Tapas we had. The prices were so reasonable and if you’re planning a day at the beach, this is the perfect location for some delicious tapas near by. The aubergine was our fave dish

Really down to earth no-frills place with fantastic tapas. We enjoyed our first night so much we came back the next night. The mussels were as good as it gets, and everything else was great too. With 6 dishes and 3 glasses of wine it was under 50 euros - which coming from California was unbelievable.

A friendly restaurant, full at dinner time, but we found a table quite fast, without making a reservation or waiting in line. The local is perfect for tapas: padron peppers, gambas allioli, croquetas, octopus a la gallega, patattas brava and the best sepia a la planxa. It was the first restaurant we ate in after landing in Barcelona and it succed to transfer us immediately into the specific culinary atmosphere of the city.

Was so looking forward to going here until I met mr toad (one of the waiters). We arrived and were immediately given an unwelcoming grimace from the waiter. We asked how long a table would be and he replied with ‘as long as it takes woman’. He proceeded to barge past us and spill a whole plate of patatas bravas down my new linen shirt !!!! When seated we watched him waltz through the restaurant and clamber upon the bar, ploughing through anyone who might stand in his way. The sweat off of his brow also dripped all over the table🤢Food was average at best and he also called us fat heffers as we wanted to try lots of different tapas. Avoid if you can !!!

Really cool place in Barceloneta where food is all that matters, not silverware, plates etc. We had various tapas which were great including the traditional homelette with potatoes and the ham. Shrimps in garlic oil were too spicy for our taste. Lovely service although waiters all looked super busy

great authentic tapas restaurant! The seafood was very fresh and decently priced, and the place had a great vibe to it. The waiter was also extremely friendly, would definitely return here when next in bcn

Recently spent 10 days in Barcelona and, of course, had tapas in multiple restaurants ranging from the "quick, we need to be on time for Casa Batlló" chain tapas, to several highly rated ones in Barceloneta, El Born, etc. - Jai-Ca was absolutely the best of all, and in the lower price range, at 50E for a two people meal we couldn't finish (the waiter had to stop us from ordering and told us we're getting a bit too much - so extra points here too!). Also loved the "locals" atmosphere and they had really good sangría too!

We have had dinner at this restaurant, prior reservation, and we have enjoyed the food. We have had the following dishes: potato and onion omelette; Russian salad, clams, steamed mussels, fried "seitons", Galician-style octopus and broken eggs with potato and ham. The truth is that everything was fine, and, in a very special way, the octopus White wine from the D. O. Terra Alta, very good In total €108, which seems very correct Very friendly staff. The only "but" is that they have put the six of us in two round tables of two, together, so we could hardly even move

Small place in the heart of the Barceloneta neighborhood. They offer local food, basically tapas. The day we went it was full of people from the neighborhood (good thing). We ordered cava sangria, brava potatoes, seafood-style mussels, pickled anchovies, croquettes, etc. All very good. Especially mussels and anchovies. Very lively atmosphere. Adequate prices. We will be back.

Typical tapas bar with good food. Went there twice and found that service was not very attentive especially during peak hours. Orders got lost and food was out very late. We did not feel entirely welcome especially during our second visit. Not sure why and do not want to speculate. This is too bad since this would be fantastic place otherwise.

Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
