Had a great lunch with family during shopping day in Barcelona. This a bit hidden place is a collection of several different tapas-, sushi-, pizza-, pinxto-, mexixan- etc. bars with common seating area. So, everybody finds his/her favourite and all we ate was very good. Absolutely worth a visit if you are in Barcelona. Especially, if you visit Picasso Museum,... More

Hidden down one of the many little side streets of El Born, Mercat Princesa has a surprise for you as you walk through the doors. Make this a stop for a few tapas and to meet people next time you walk through this district

Nice prices. Good food! A lot of choice. Went here for breakfast and had a nice fresh mango juice. Friendly atmosphere.

Sometimes the TripAdvisor community is dead wrong; this is a case in point. At the time we were there, Mercat Princesa had an average rating of 4,1. While it's not very expensive (13 euro for three tapas, desert and and a drink), what we experienced was nothing short of shockingly bad. The pizza was soggy, with a cheap tomato sauce... More

The concept of eating dishes from different restaurants is unique. I chose to eat only traditional sea-food tapas which were fresh & good. The service was very good. The patio where the table was, is very nice and you have a special atmosphere.

This restaurant is trying to look like a small foodcourt. The idea is great but it did not work for me. Several cookingstations where you could order, So you will be walking up and down or eat your first one could if waiting for you next tapas to be finished. No happy staff. I would not be happy.... working all... More

Very kind staff and good service. Interesting and international food - and because og the concept (a market where you Pick some different food of your own choice), you dare to try out something new! Best recommends from Denmark.

We visited here for cocktails, however there's so many different food stalls in here with so much variation. Great atmosphere - a must visit if you're in the area

I came here with my boyfriend and another couple for a long lunch and drinks. Mercat Princesa is basically like a small indoor street food market; there are around 15 different kiosks serving food from all over the world - burritos, cured meats, seafood, pizzas, sushi burgers etc. (though not in a horrible fast-foody way). We managed to try quite... More

This place is like a Tapas food court on a tourist area,, but prices are fair for the course and food is really good. Local beers available at near bodega prices, a decent bar, good selection including local fare, mexican and pizza. Seating is límited, but most of the time you'll get a place. Bigger tables are intended for sharing.... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
