We probably go here about 4 to 5 times a year as it is our favourite restaurant in Barcelona. The food is an original and innovative fusion of Catalan and Japanese. Fine dinning at reasonable prices. The tasting menu, bottle of wine, bread and coffee usually comes to about 100 Euros which is fantastic value for the quality of the... More

I was invited to this restaurant by a friend. First of all I had trouble parking in the area, then as I walked by the restaurant I did not even see it. As I entered I thought there must have been a mistake. Then the food started coming: OMG! One dish better than the other. The restaurant works on set... More

There is nothing conventional about this restaurant. It's really difficult to work out how to book, other than by visiting it, but it's well worth doing so. The decor is gorgeous - dark petrol blue walls up to shoulder height with bright red fresh apples placed strategically on ledges and on tables. There is no background music- just the sound... More

We enjoyed a unique Thanksgiving experience at Somodo. Catalonian-style Japanese food in Barcelona. No rolls or nigiri-style. Instead interesting and tasty fish dishes using good fresh fish and local ingredients. We each had a different tasting menu. Mine had a few more dishes than my spouses, although most dishes were the same. Food and service were very good.

In a charming area ahead of passeig de Gracia,in a very small street, we found this great true Japanese restaurant. No sushi at all but two affordable Tasting menus that propose very original and flavored dishes.. Interesting wine list. Perfect service. Do not miss it

We red about this restaurant in a Norwegian travel book, and we went there with some friends.. small charming restaurant, with great service, charms owner and just amazing food and owners choice of wine! The book said it was very cheap, so it was a little surprise when we got the bill, but still worth every penny, and not really... More

While there has been a big growth of pseudo-Japanese restaurants in barcelona, I have been amazed by the discovery of a real Japanese taste in an intimate atmosphere. Awesome degustation menu and service at affordable prices.

Every time we have visited they have a unique menu, adapted to the season that never fails to surprise us. It is a great place to have a slow-lunch as it never gets/feels too crowded. Be sure to make a reservation at least two or three days in advance.

Somodo is a place we like to go to every time we visit Barcelona, which is every 6-8 weeks. It does what is really a tasting menu influenced by Catalan and Japanese cuisine about 8-9 courses for €35, which is tremendously good value for money given the quality of the food and the obvious care and detail in its presentation.... We had the tasting menu, and it was ok (nothing particularly special) but above all it was very slow serving. 2 hours and 15 minutes for the eight plates.

Staying in Gracia

Neighbourhood Profile
Gracia
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the centre, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theatre that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.
