More boxes! Everything you eat is Fair Trade/organic as well. The crew are all volunteers and this enterprise trains them, whilst operating as a commune/co-operative - without a hint of new-age otherworldliness! A great location, on the edge of Born & Gotic, where the inside is taken outside with a shaded courtyard and outdoor heating if it gets chilly.

We have walked past this restaurant many times, this time it was raining and we were glad it was, we had a lovely breakfast which was really cheap. I think this is linked to a charity or community organisation which teaches cooking skills to families and young people. The food was very good and the prices very reasonable (coffee and... More

Discovered this place by accident, we were starving and decided to stop on the next place we'd find, we were lucky. With tables outside, big variety of food and great atmosphere we sat for a few hours there and left delighted. We had tabouleh and vegetarian burger and they were both very good.

Excellent lunch at this brilliant restaurant tucked away in the Born area of Barcelona, near the Picasso museum . Great food, well presented and excellent choice for vegetarians. From the social purpose of this project, to the food and Fairtrade tea and coffee, this is a great place to eat. Highly recommended!

I ordered the Friday special: Tajime. Worst choice of the day. It seems though they promote themselves as organic etc foodies, they took the fattiest most bony piece of lamb and shoved it in a Tajime. Absolutely no meat, alright perhaps a bite or two. I spend the next 15 minutes gutting what was already a mess in search of... More

Mescladis is a cool neighborhood cafe in el born. 2 things make it quite special: it has plenty of outdoor space and it is a local favorite. Great coffee, food and service. Nice vibe and always packed

Came across this place whilst sightseeing. I had the 3 course lunch with drink consisting of a beer, a bowl full of gazpacho, meatballs, Chocolate brownie. My Husband had chicken brochette which was a good sized portion. All the food was very tasty and my set lunch was good value. Staff friendly and helpful.

The chicken brochette here is great as well as the hummus. The place has a very cool vibe, very eclectic and artsy. I would stop in from time to time for the brochette.

Had a couple of beers. It's a very nice place with relaxed atmosphere and lots of kooky bohemian decoration. That's about all I have to say, but Trip Advisor is insisting that I write at least a hundred words, so maybe I'll just ramble on for a while about how much I hate Donald Trump. I mean, who votes for... More

We had lunch. Nice outdoor seating and friendly atmosphere. We ordered salad and two vegetable dishes. All were very good. However, we ordered their upgraded wine instead of their lowest quality red house wine by the glass. It came chilled and was poor quality even after letting it warm up a while. I would return, but skip the wine and... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
