L'Escamarlá in on the sea front in a privileged position on Barcelona's esplanade. Simple and unpretentious Mediterranean cooking can be enjoyed on its terrace, based on the best fish and the freshest shellfish. Its menu includes seafood, rice and fried dishes, as well as house recommendations that include sea bass in salt, whole sea bream or lobster ?a la plancha?. There is also a range of meat dishes and special menus for groups or corporate dining. Many of the dishes are for two people.

Fine place at the beach

Escamarla is a touristy restaurant, no getting around it. Even though it's located at one of the quieter beaches; quiet is very relative in Barcelona. Prices are thereafter, though they're still not high. However, we had some good food - seafood fry-up, salad, patatas bravas, and we enjoyed a loooong afternoon of drinking cava and coffee after coffee. We also got some really wry and fun waiters.

Good food at seaview

The seaview was very nice. The food was good but could be a little improved (seafood & veggy paelia) but was good and traditionally made. Waiter was nice 4/5 is the correct review, speed could be improved.

Inside, because terrasse was full. If you come early in time, you can find a nice table. Kitchen, fish, paella are good. Weekends is full. reservation, only as waiting - list Nice after walking on the beach promenade. Tipycal restsurant gor family or friends.

Best paella in town

The best place to dine with the view of the Mediterranean sea. We have tried the Arroz Negro and this is the best paella I have ever eaten in Spain. The seafood platter is also good and everyone of us enjoyed all our meals. The staff are very friendly and the price of every dishes are cheaper compared to all the restaurants we have been in the city center. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely comeback next time I am in Barcelona.

Amazing and family friendly!

I was here few times when I was with family on holidays. The staff was very friendly! One of the weiters we know for very long time - always remember us when we come and welcome warmly. I must say paella is bit salty BUT YOU CAN ASK FOR LESS SALT and its NOT a PROBLEM. They are very cooperative and there for you. Definetly reccomend and for kids as well! :)

Brought customer for lunch at this place, booked for 25 guests, ended uo with 32 guest, they fixed in two minutes! We had everything we needed at all time the 5 hours we were there. The food and drinks were good. I loved how they took so good care of us. Everyone was very happy and greatful. This will be a tradition every year! Thank you so much for making our event so successfu!

Prompt service and great lunch

Stopped in for lunch on my way back from the beach on a Saturday afternoon. It was quite busy but the waiter was very prompt in taking my drink order and then my lunch order. The chardonnay wine was delicious, the mussels were plentiful, plump, and juicy. The Padron peppers were also very good. Don't forget to ask for grilled bread to dip into the mussels broth.

Restaurant was empty but still they insisted we couldn’t order sangria and sit inside if we didn’t order food. We could have ordered food but wanted to start with drinks. Service was really unpleasant. Would not recommend :(

We had Paella, fried calamari’s and Creme caramel. All very good and delicious. Prices are Ok for this prime location. Very kind and attentive waiter. Great experience

Unacceptable customer experience/management

I cannot say anything about the food in this restaurant since I didn't have time even to taste it. I will describe here the experience I had as a tourist: we were two families with three kids ( 4, 3 and 2 years old). At 15pm I approached and asked for a reservation. I was told that a table could take 50 min. I said clearly to the lady: this is ok, but since the kids cannot wait this long I will buy something for them in Mac donalds (which was besides the reataurant). So I bought some hamburguers and Fries for the 3 kids only. Passed 15 min I was said that the table was available. So I brought the kids food to the restaurant (remember we were 4 adults who were looking for sea food and and 3 young hungry kids). The kids started to eat the hamburguers, we parents just selected the sea food and suddenly a very arrogant waiter or manager or watever came and said : "we don't accept competitor food in the restaurant. They can eat outside". We were 4 adults looking for their food and they created such a bad environment in the restaurant, every customers around were very chocked with the behavior of that man not allowing the kids to eat their favorite food that simply we decided to go...... It was very disappointing to face such behavior.... Very aggressive man with kids eating Mac donalds while the parents were looking for the wines and sea food.... Not kids friendly at all... Do not recommend.

We feel a little sad about your comment because we want the best for our customers, but finally we are a restaurant and we can't accept food from other restaurants. Maybe first you could ate at Mc Donalds and then at Escamarlà or find something on our menu for your kids.

Poor Quality at the Highest Price

There with a group of friends and got the group menu for 32EUR. The food and the wine were low quality. The service was not flexible at all. You can have better food for cheaper price (a la cart !!) in better restaurants.

Food was overpriced for a little portion. We asked for french fries like a side meal, and the waiter said its 2.60 but it turned out to be 3 euros. My friend asked for pawns for 18.50 euros and it was like 6 little pieces. The last thing which we were furious, that they asked 1 euro for the bread and it was (3 buns) and later they asked if we would like to have a second round and we got 2 buns also for the same price. I would never think they would ask money for the bread. This is a typical tourist trap. (my meal was okay, but not worth the price)
