Stopped here walking through the beach for lunch. Great location and views, patio is basically sitting on the sand. Food and drinks were fine, a little over-priced, but you pay for the location. Service was extremely slow, and this is coming from a very patient couple already having been in Spain for two weeks. Come here if you need to... More

Sunny Saturday in March, my wife was craving paella and we didn't have a reservation...with all the Barceloneta classics full we decided to try Arenal. The food was ok, calamares and buñuelos good, paella a bit dry. The service was very attentive and the table in the Terrance by the beach perfect for kids to play in te sand while... More

It's an excellent place for eat typical rice (paella). But, in weekend, the staff it's not enough. We had to wait a lot to get the desert cart. And was impossible to order it. And it's no cheap. About 30€/person in weekend lunch.

If you are looking for Mediterranean food this place is a great choice. I recommend seafood paella and the seafood fideua.

Located right by Barcelonata Beach, this restaurant was recommended to us by other locals when we mentioned we wanted to try a good Catalonia paella. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, though they add a surcharge if you choose to seat outdoors. On our visit, it was very windy and hot so we decided to seat inside to escape... More

Arenal is one of the limited options in BCN for lunch or dinner on the beach. It has both indoor and outdoor space and it seems that outdoor space is larger. I was surprised and found the food to be good and better than expected. Friendly staff

Located right at the beach, this place is definitely located at a scenic spot and also features a nice interior. The staff was helpful and friendly. However, the food did not convince me: the appetizers were standard, my steak came over cooked and cold, so did the orders of for the rest of the table. Given that this place is... More

This place is delicious! The food was great from the start. First we ordered calamari and bread to share, the bread was good, but the calamari was absolutely perfect. Lightly battered and not overly fried. It had the best flavor of any calamari I had on my whole trip to Spain. The main dish I ordered, the filet with foie... More

I don't know how this restaurant got such rave reviews...it was AWFUL!!! I ordered the seafood grill, which was fish and several other types of seafood, all grilled of course. I'm expecting some amazing flavor--nope. The food was grilled, but that's it. No flavor! No seasoning! Nothing!! Huge waste of money!! If this is a representation of their food I... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
