Admittedly this was not my first choice. The dining room at the back is in the traditional style and service was very good, if anything too quick and too attentive. The food was only average. My turbot was only just grilled sufficiently. Not cheap although I find this true of Salamance in general. Tapas etc in the lively bar at... More

Very traditional but very good even so. Excellent attentive service. Nice white table cloths (one thing I appreciate!). Decent salad of ham and foie to start then a huge meaty piece of turbot (grilled) which I couldn't finish! With chips. And peas! Great Spanish rice pudding to finish it all off. Pleasant location even though you are sitting right by... More

Nice traditional restaurant offering typical local food. The food is well prepared, service is excellent and the interior very elegant and original. The English china used is beautiful and the location is also very convenient. We were recommended to this place by the owner of an antique shop in town and it did not disapooint. Definitely recommend.

Arriving late in the afternoon we weren't looking for a top restaurant so the hotel suggested a few casual options including Rio de la Plata - it was one restaurant that had a variety of vegetables. Something we were craving after a few days of only eating pintxo in San Sebastian. The restaurant is very old school with traditional food.... More

We stopped in for lunch upon arriving to Salamanca. We did have a reservation, which I highly recommend, especially on weekends or holidays. Everything from the friendly service to the excellent food quality to the reasonable pricing was terrific. We would absolutely go back.

We arrived early and were all alone for some time! the Spanish eat late. It really filled up. Reservations advised. The restaurant is quite traditional and our food was simple and good. Just as traditional is to have little else but meat on the plate. You need to order a veg dish.

We (self and extremely significant other) arrived in Salamanca this evening, No plans, no reservations. We checked TA for eating suggestions and set off in search. Sunday night- all closed. We chose Rio de la Plata based on an interesting menu. Were somewhat disappointed when one piece of john dory was undercooked and still translucent. These thing happen- returned to... More
