The salmon tatar was excellent and the mushroom ravioli delicious. Nice waiter, good wine and the white chocolate soup for dessert was the best . Something different bit sooo good

We tried to have a couple of beers and a light lunch here after a long bike ride from Horcajo de los Montes. The waiter was snappy and rude. After a couple of tries he took our order, but while waiting, the entire staff left the premises - including our waiter. Another wait staff member tied to wisk away out... More

Not everyone will like this place but having lived in Spain for 15 years , I understand what they are trying to achieve. On a quiet night I enjoyed perfectly cooked fresh artichokes and the two oven baked meats . Both lamb and pork are milk fed babies so have a somewhat acquired taste but they are done well here... We enjoyed a fine dinner in their upstairs dining room. Best meal — quality of food and preparation, service, atmosphere — of five weeks in Spain.

You might want to come here just to walk on the magnificent hotel grounds. The dining room was lovely, and the service excellent. The cuisine was not memorable.

Focus on what this straightforward restaurant does best and you'll be amply rewarded. I know it's a Spanish cuisine trope, but the roast suckling pig at El Cardenal is, indeed, succulent.... Crisp, sweet skin giving way to moist, beautiful meat, with just the right amount of fat to keep things interesting. It was the finest version I either saw or... More

Charming and cozy restaurant and outstanding roasted whole suckling piglet (their specialty)! Ordered the set menu and it didn't disappoint at all. 39 euros per person...unbeatable!

The Hostal del Cardenal is located in an 18th century Toledo palace that has been converted into a three star hostel. The hostels restaurant, in an attractive setting surrounded by gardens, offers traditional Spanish cooking, featuring roast suckling pig and lamb cooked in traditional Castilian style in a wood fired oven, and Toledo-style partridge casserole. Desserts include the marzipans and marquesitas (small pastries) that are typical of the Toledo region. There is a special area set aside for childrens games and in the summer the terrace is a great spot to enjoy a meal with friends.
