Great quality, and at a very reasonable price. Surprisingly this restaurant is very well known only for the seafood. I couldn't be happier with the meal we had, without any seafood. And at a very nice price!!! The restaurant is very quiet, because it's not the very last fashion restaurant on the city. We could say "it's a classic", managed... More

It was a very wet evening in Bilbao and we ducked I. Here for a few drinks to dry off. Very friendly host , who despite only a little English help me with some basque pronunciation. Old fashioned traditional decor , good wine choices . Lots of people came and went, tapas seemed good value. Don't be put off if... More

My wife and I have eaten and dined in Maider many times in the last few years. It's very conveniently located in the Abando area in the New Town and close to the Abando Hotel itself. One of the reasons we come here so often is that it is nearly always open. It opens first thing in the morning for... More

Was in Bilbao for a music conference and was looking for some monk fish (called "rape" in Spain) before I left and I walked into this place as I had walked by it during the day. Right from the start, the person who greeted me was friendly. I ordered my meal and had a great plate of fish, an appetizer... More

Expert preparation and presentation with attentive service and a nice wine list. Opens at 8pm, an hour earlier than most upscale restaurants in Bilbao. Turbot was wonderful and perfectly cooked.

the decor of this little gem belies the quality of the food and service. we were attracted by the fresh fish and variety of mushrooms in the window. we ordered fresh grilled gambas, fresh sautéed mushrooms, stewed mushrooms with langoustines and delicious tiramisu for dessert. the service is attentive and menus are in Spanish, English and French. we drank the... The food was very good, and the attendance very polite, although it was not a busy day. The atmosphere was much better than average in other restaurants in that neighbourhood. And price is not a problem, as it's very reasonable. We did not try the sea food, but we could see it alive in the main entrance.

Sea food not fresh, same for the wine. The fish was poorly cooked, nothing special, no real taste. This restaurant is worse than a breakfast chais restaurant.

Good position of the restaurant with an interesant look (they have an aquarium with living lobster swimming in it). The owner was served us and we have to admit that was an excellent serving. Good wines and tasty food (you can ask even things out of the menu) that determined you to come back once more. I strongly recomend it.

We sat in the restaurant, a bit further away from the bar. There was just one other couple around 10 pm, maybe a bit too early still. The food was excellent. The fresh lobster was one of the best I have ever had in a restaurant. A bit pricy but certainly worth it. My wife took the turbot which was... More
