A lovely, relaxed, very high quality lunch experience for our party of six. While the food was very good, as you would expect, the outstanding brilliance for our group was in the wine pairing. This was hugely innovative, even challenging in places, but succeeded because...More

We have been to Nerua after visiting the Guggenheim Museum. We had reserved two weeks before. The introduction at the open kitchen by the chef was very warm and the treats offered were delicuous. Then we were leaded to the restaurant. It is a round...More

Dinner for 2 on a Thursday evening and about 15-20 guests in a spartan room. Since it is part of a museum, it's a little strange that it has no wall covering at all. The food is excellent but a little colour would not detract....More

My wife and I went for the 14 'products' tasting menu as a treat for her birthday. We were greeted by a chef who served three amuse bouche at the kitchen pass whilst explaining the workings of the kitchen. Very interesting and a good start...More

We had the tasting menu with wine match. I am always a bit sceptical about wine matches but we just wanted a quiet night chatting without to many decisions. A virtual trust the chef and sommelier. Can't fault the food. Delicious, varied and beautifully presented....More

Went for lunch with my family. Took the set menu and was thoroughly impressed. Impeccable service, superb food. Even we're allowed a tour of the kitchen. Amazing. This memory will last a lifetime. Menu changes 3x a year. Tempting

We had a nice meal but it could have been so much better. We chose the 9 course menu. The first 5 courses were all served very quickly one after the other as if they wanted our table (they did not). I complained and it...More

The tour of the kitchen, meetng the chef and the amuse bouche were the highlight of what we had anticipated would be a superlative gastronomic experience, but sady the following 18 courses did not match up to what we were hoping for. The overall cost...More

Our dinner at Nerua on a Saturday evening started with a tour of the kitchen, during which the first amuses were served. The excellent menu was centred around highly local ingredients. The kitchen was superb in taking dietary requirements into consideration. As to be expected...More

No specific dress code - I emailed to ask them. They do prefer smart casual over ripped jeans and the like. I wore a smart shirt with a thin jacket and trousers rather than jeans. The ladies will always want to dress up... More

Description
Nerua takes its name from the Nervión River, the backbone of Bilbao, which in ancient Latin was called Nerva. We combine innovation with our roots, our surroundings. It is a space designed for a gastronomic and cultural experience. Nature sets the pace of our kitchen, we adapt to each season without censorship to do the cuisine that we feel. A local cuisine that begins at the vegetable gardens, in the sea, and in the farms. Our experience is the best technique-we cook with freedom to create pleasure and enjoyment. Faithful to our principles, we defend our environment and the producers who make our goal possible: to be at the cutting edge and to innovate without losing the flavor of our roots. "Muina"-Basque for core, heart, or essence-is the soul of our kitchen.
