We sought out this little Taberna on TripAdvisor, due to the great reviews and proximity to our hotel a few streets over. Having eaten our fill of the usual Tapas, we were looking for something a bit diferent from the run-of-the-mill, and were delightedto find that this place fit the bill perfectly. The wine, recommended by the server, was excellent... More

I live in Spain and have worked as a tour guide all over (including Granada) so trust me when I say this place is awesome. Young owner super passionate and knowledgable about wines (and willing to share info!) and great (free!) tapas as well as delicious plates of food for sharing.

My husband and I came across this tapas bar after wandering down a side street in Granada and were pleasantly surprised. We were looking for a place that was not so touristy and served quality wines. We were not disappointed! We asked for local wines and they were wonderful. Tapas were very good and high quality. We actually went back... More

Located close to Plaza del Carmen, this small wine bar serves excellent tapas and is a great place to relax after a day of sight-seeing in Granada. With stylish decor and a jazz soundtrack, it is buzzing with energy on a busy Saturday night but mellow and intimate mid-week. Delicious tapas dishes are served with each round of drinks and... This is a really nice little bar down a quiet side street. We happened to go there on our first night in Granada, and it was so good we went again for our final night. The food is uniformly great, but I highly recommend the Iberian Pork. On the two nights we had two different ones, and both were scrumptious.... More

The description of the restaurant included "Vegetarian". However when we came for dinner, after ordering drinks we were told they have ran out of vegetables. Not even sure how that works. Also the waiter, when discussing the free tapas that come when ordering drinks, did not know what vegetarian means, and he asked if meatballs and ham (jamon) are vegetarian.... More

Spanish pork is delicious, but at Taberna El Retiro the quality of the meat and the excellent preparation combined with excellent wine pairings and great service makes for an amazing dining experience. The tapas are outstanding, too.

We chose this restaurant on the recommendations from trip advisor. We were not disappointed as it is a cut above your average Tapas bar. We were the only non locals in the place always a good sign. We had had our fill of the drink and graze approach and since one of our party was gluten intolerant he was somewhat... More

This excellent restaurant was recommended to us by our Alhambra tour guide. We arrived just as it opened at 8.30pm and it soon filled up. The food was delicious, in generous portions, and we had plenty of good wine, yet the bill was under 30 euros per head. Outstanding!
