A great selection of classical Japanese dishes, this place has much more to offer than Sushi even if the restaurant name may suggest otherwise. Food quality is extremely high. Perhaps the only things which is left desired is the presentation - every dish is humbly...served without much exchange of words and the menu also has little information to offer. Without good knowledge of Japanse quisine the visitor might not know what they are eating.More

This restaurant is hidden from the street behind the lobby of the Westin Hotel. We were here on advise of your daughter, who is a real expert in Japanese cuisine. I was a bit surprised, because we have had better sushi experiences in Frankfurt before....But the food we got was absolutely good and fresh. It is a very busy place. We had lunch here, and at noon it was empty. I watched in amazement how the restaurant filled up completely in 10-15 minutes. Reservations are essential. Service is ok, but a bit strange. Usually I avoid sushi restaurants that are run by Chinese. This one has a Japanese sushi chef (excellent, and very kind), but the rest of the staff are form China and other countries. I have noticed that some reviews were less favorable. I can only imagine that service must be less reliable through time. But the price/quality is great. You can have a good meal, and cheap.More

It’s not bad, it’s not great. You can get a seat without making a reservation, but you will probably get seated by the tapanyaki bar. It is fine if there are only 2-3 of you, but a little awkward to talk to one another if...you have a bigger party. Sashimi set is of decent quality. Tampura set is a pass. Too much batter and I just don’t enjoy potato or a whole slice of onion tampura style. The thing is, there are just not many good Japanese set lunch options in that part of town so if you are craving Japanese, that’s the place to go.More

From time to time we eat lunch here - everything is excellent, but the rice. I don't know what happened because lately the rice has been overcooked (I highly doubt a Japanese person would ever let this happen so I assume it is not a...Japanese person preparing the rice). Lunch menus range from 13-25 EUR, there are vegetarian, pescatarian and meaty menus available.More

Tried Sushimoto following a recommendation by a Japanese contact of mine in Frankfurt. It’s tucked right behind the reception desk of the Westin Hotel in Frankfurt. Took a counter seat to watch the sushi chef in action. I had the deluxe sushi set and the...Unaju eel bowl. Food was nicely prepared and fresh. You can’t expect the fish to be like in Tokyo but the sushi was expertly cut and prepared by the Japanese chef. I should also note the very friendly and courteous Japanese waitress who made me feel welcome. Overall, good restaurant. I would come again.More

The atmosphere and the food was what we call "taishu-shokudo" meaning a cheap no frill local restaurant but the prices were simply too high. I ordered the vege menu and some sushi. Sushi toppings were very tiny and thin. I liked grilled tofu and the...veges were fresh and good but the sauce was too strong and salty. The service was totally not that of Japan but rather that of Germany...kind of abrupt and inattentive.More

Good but not excellent sushi. The fish was rather spongy! Service rather erratic and a bit confused. But on the whole an ok meal for an ok price, at least at lunch time. There are better sushi places in Frankfurt.

I have visited Sushimoto many times and always had the most delicious sushi with friendly and fast service. I love the possibility to watch their cooking and skills.

We were staying in the Westin, and we had a drink at the bar once we got back from an exhibition. We checked with the bar in relation to the restaurant closing time as it was Sunday night, and we had had a long day...on our feet, so we needed to have a rest before eating. They confirmed that the closing time was 2130, so we went upstairs for a snooze, set the alarm for 2045, and came down and reached the restaurant at 2105 to be met with a closed /Geschlossen sign. We thought this was strange as the bar staff had clearly indicated that the closing time was 2130, so we checked with reception. Reception were also surprised, checked their records and sure enough closing time was confirmed as 2130. So we returned to the restaurant with the receptionist, and I opened the door. The waiting staff were busy serving guests, so I went to the bar where two chefs were working and asked for a table. I was told, (in heavily accented German), ‘no closed, go somewhere else’. By this stage, I knew I wasn’t going to be eating there, so I asked as to what was closing time. The chef then began to shout and scream and wave kitchen implements around, and again in his heavily accented German, I was told that I was unable to read, (*possibly* that I was a mad/stupid American – I am neither mad nor American), and that there were many restaurants around and we should go and eat in one of them. At that stage, I beat a retreat, to be faced with amazed looks from other diners! I can honestly say that I have never experienced such a reaction in any catering establishment, bar, or hotel, ever, anywhere, in any part of the world. In any event, this is the main restaurant in the Westin, and whoever gave a restaurant concession to this individual really needs to reconsider. Anyone with an attitude like that to guests shouldn’t be in the hospitality industry, and if I was a Marriott shareholder, I don’t think I’d be too keen on the restaurant closing 30 minutes early.More

We are the family of 4 visiting this restaurant. First when we got there no one served us. We understand this might be German restaurants culture and we found ourselves the seat after we asked the servant. The other servant, the Mandarin speaking lady, was...very rude to us and refused to gave us the seat as promised by another lady at the front door, which we didn’t understand why. While we ordered food, she was very impolite. Food was ok, of course not excellent. But I am only talking about poor service here. Definitely a poor experience. Suggest others not to come again.More
