Went here because we heard it was good. Staff were no help as we tried to fathom the overly complex food ordering system that seemed to involve them weighing your sausages. The serving woman then angrily told us to pay NOW. I handed my card and was told NO CARDS ONLY CASH! Luckily we scraped together enough to pay in... More

We had dinner at Groningen, the place is absolutely really nice, personnel is friendly. Food is really standard, we had 4 different meals and all of them nothing special. Bear it's home made and really tasty. I'll go back there as pub but not as restaurant. Price is standard. I do not understand such goods feedback about food.

Only had two pints of the locally produced beer, and they were both good (Wheat and Pilsner). They were preparing food and that too looked delicious. German style.

This is a fantastic beer hall that looks and feels like it has been there for as long as they claim (1722). The beer and food are good. When you arrive you have to request a seat. I was alone and made the mistake of saying I just wanted a beer and a snack so I was seated in the... More

The worse place to go if you're vegetarian! On the other hand, the place also doesn't position itself as a "vegetarian friendly" place, so I can't hold it against them. We were a party of three (2 meat eaters and myself) on a Friday night. For a brewery I'd say that they have a very limited choice of beers (there... More

Groningen brewery is located at the basement, underneath some building on Willy Brandt Strasse. It's very typical, kind of being in a huge cellar. Service reminds a Bavarian biergarten, not a huge choice of food but enough to enjoy a Groeninger Mass with it. Actually enjoyed a good Schweinshaxe, very good. Price good too.

Went here with a big group on a work trip and really enjoyed the experience. We indulged in shared platters with several types of sausage, crispy pork belly, potatoes and sauerkraut that was about €16 per person and were extremely happy with our choice ... that was until the waiters passed by with a full roasted pig with beautifully crackled... One of the best beer houses in Hamburg for the taste of their own brew. Very authentic and German atmosphere. Food is good too. Only negatives would be; slow and indifferent service sometimes. I have been 10 times, and you are treated like a one-off tourist by some staff. However, a couple of the regular waiters are really fun and... More

We chose to come here as we were looking for an authentic German beer cellar experience. It certainly looked the part, with all of the copper machinery you would expect to see, and a number of different beers available. The place was huge and went on for miles, we were seated quite close to the entrance as we had not... More

We went to this restaurant for a work dinner out when in Hamburg. We had a large group which really suited the environment. The food was authentic German and we had a keg of beer per table from the local brewery. An enjoyable evening.
