We had fantastic "matjes" (herring) here. I would recommend it highly for typical German food that Germans actually eat. But, really, you go there for the decor, the atmosphere, the politicians you hope to see eating/talking, and the incredible collection of Cold War memorabilia decorating the place, including photographs, news articles and small items. The name "Staendige Vertretung" refers to... More

If you are in a rush this maybe not the place for you, but if you are looking for somewhere traditional with a great atmosphere then it is. The translations are much better in the menus here so you get a real sense of what you are ordering. The portions are huge. Tonight I was served the best schnitzel I... More

Food was ok but nothing spectacular. Location is nice in the city center. Service was ok,although I thought the lady should have been more friendly. In general ir more seems like a tourist trap than like a hidden secret

Ever hear the stories of travellers who experience abusive people in other countries simply because they are foreign, don't speak the language, etc.? That certainly has not been my experience until I came here. My opening salvo is always to ask the waitress if she speaks English to avoid the need to go into miming. This gal rudely said No!... I've been going to the Staev for many years now and popped back last night to sit outside and enjoy the warm evening. Perhaps that wasn't the smartest move as we spent most of the evening being surrounded by walking tour groups who stop in the middle of the tables to hear about the glockenspiel. They serve fantastic flammkucken (they're... More

Ate here while visiting Bremen, having previously traveled quite extensively to the Rhineland (my wife used to live there) it felt a natural place to go. It's very large inside and modeled on a traditional Cologne beer halle, but the decoration is quite fascinating with many old posters and pictures of Germany's political history. Quite a guess who for those... More

Good food, nothing fancy, you get what you order. Only 2 types of beer, but the draft ones are fine. No wifi, so you can really enjoy your meal without your phone bothering you! :) Service is 9/10!

This is situated on Bremens most historical street a lovely setting though a busy place the atmosphere was brilliant and lively. The service was great we don't speak much German but were able to order in English and menu is provided in English too. Portions were huge and it was really nice hearty German fare. The server was really attentive... More

Great place to eat and drink. It's like the Tardis - it's much bigger on the inside than you think and its full of German political history, but go there for fun. Order a wheel of Cologne sticks and enjoy the lovely beer served in small glasses. Recommend sitting outside and listen to the Meisen Bells chime and watch the... More

A nice place with food from different German regions (local and Rheinland), as well as international. Great tasting cold German beer. Most interesting is the decor consisting of old photograph and paraphernalia. Everything is of decent German quality, the staff is friendly and the location is perfect for people visiting Bremen.

Thank Ota R
