We are as picky about ambiance and service as we are about food, but Lubitsch managed to delight us on all three counts. We stumbled across this gem as we searched for an S-Bahn station one night (its curb-appeal drew us in), and it gave us the best meal we had in Berlin, and arguably the best dining experience we... Had a table for eight for my 60th birthday here - family and friends and have to say that the food and service were both outstanding. Good German cuisine and of a very high standard across all three courses. We were a bit loud but the waiters were fun and made the night very sepcial. Well done guys. I'll be... More

My boyfriend and I stumbled into this restaurant, unplanned, to get a drink before our dinner reservation elsewhere in the proximity. The interior is bright and elegant. We sat at the bar and ordered a bottle of Brunello, which was excellent and well priced. Since we had dinner plans we didn't want anything significant to eat, just a little something... More

Great restaurant especially for a romantic dinner. We sat at the bar and had a Brunello (incredible). They did not have any accompanying dishes for the wine on the menu, so the chef concocted a cheese dish (seared goat and sheep cheese on eggplant and zucchini with dried tomatoes and walnut bread) which worked flawlessly with the Italian wine. The... More

Spent a great evening here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Loved the atmosphere of the place and the food, wine and service more than matched this. Wholeheartedly recommend...

We had a very tasty lunch at Lubitsch. The place has a history with its former owner being featured with cigar in mouth and black and white paintings; yet it is modern with elegant gray walls and candles, even at lunch. Small but cozy bar; excellent service, and really good food. We loved the cucumber salad, spinach dumplings (their take... More

A delightful traditional restaurant. Service was very friendly. Not a touristy place, clientele seemed mostly local, but we were welcomed warmly and waiter had excellent English. He kindly translated menu for us. Weinershnitzel was perfect, lovely flavour and crispy. Traditional warm potato salad delicious. And best apple tart I have had in memory, super fine pastry and lovely finely sliced... More

We had a lovely meal sitting on an outside table. The staff were all charming and our food and drinks (fried calves liver, fillet of Arctic river salmon, mixed berry gelato and individual glasses of wine) were excellent and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back when we're next in Berlin.

We liked the food, service and the atmosphere. The menu was varied and we enjoyed on both nights - fish and meat. The portions were ample,. The service was excellent. The waitress gave us very personalized attention - (She was thrilled to serve Americans and helped us with our selections) - The food served was continental.

I get to Berlin every few years and have always eaten at this restaurant as in the past the food was always excellent. This time it was average at best and perhaps not quite that good. I guess the next time I come to Berlin I will try it again because no one is perfect and chefs can have an... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
